I recently started a new dynasty with the Ms. After finishing the first game, I noticed a team signed Ichiro to a contract from the FA list. WTFudge? He was still on my team but also was in the FA pool. Twin Ichiros. So I restarted MVP and low and behold, Ichiro's evil twin was in the FA pool for some unknown reason. I checked MVPedit and he was nowhere to be found except for on the Mariners and on the All-Star roster. Not in the FA pool at all. So I exported to find him still there! I then cleaned out my data/database folder and exported once more. He is STILL there! Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a ghost in my comp or what? But when I posted, it kept returning "No topics or posts met your search criteria". Well the answer I found was to edit attrib.dat and find the duplicated player.. and delete him. I did so and the evil twin was gone from the FA pool. Yippee! (right?) -- Well, now I tried to start a new dynasty and it keeps crashing to desktop on the loading screen. Homer Posted September 10, 2006 Share Posted September 10, 2006 yeah, there are a lot of threads on this already. i found the same thing happening. what i found was that with players i added to the all star rosters, the system made duplicates of them and added them to the FA pool. to prevent this, i just went into MVPedit and made them hidden players. then in the game, i believe there is an option to have hidden players, or something like that. just make sure it's off, and it solved the problem. i believe there's some other things you have to do when you want to add players to the rosters, and i think kraw had a tutorial for it. it was so long that i just didn't have time to play with it yet. so i just used the quick fix i mentioned above. thr33niL Posted September 10, 2006 Author Share Posted September 10, 2006 What my problem could have stemmed from was that I used an updated UR version and imported the Mariner teams that I have been working on for a while. I only have found that one player was duplicated (Ichiro) and found him twice attrib.dat file. Seemed simple enough to delete the second player but now the game is fudging because of it. Homer Posted September 10, 2006 Share Posted September 10, 2006 that sucks man. i feel for ya. you haven't been having a very good string of luck lately. well, i don't really understand how all that stuff really works, but it may be similar what happened to me. i think ichiro is the only m's all star anyhow, right? just try the hidden player thing. it's quick, easy, and just as easy to change back if you need to. So I would mark Ichiro (in my case) "Hidden" on the Mariner roster and make sure "Hidden" players is off in-game? yeah, i think the option on "Use Unlockable Players" should say no, and that does the trick. let me know how that works, since i still want to learn about this whole dealy myself. Anyway... re-upped my backups and deleted the extra Ichiro out of the attrib.dat file and now everything is working famously. Thanks for the help (and sympathies) homer. I have had a run of bad luck lately but that comes with modding the bejeezuz out of a the game I guess. I would hit "start a new dynasty" and right when the loading screen came on.. POOF! -- Back to the destop I went.
