Trues
Hey everyone, With the very sad state of PC baseball, I'm thinking about branching out here at mvpmods to cover not only MVP but, Madden, NBA Live, and the NHL series as well. I know there are other sites out there covering these games already but I'd like to see what this modding community could bring to the table. We might surprise ourselves, or maybe not but, we'll never know unless we try. My thought here is, why let this amazing community die along with MVP? Just maybe we can stick around long enough to see another PC baseball game someday. That may be wishful thinking but, who knows. Your thoughts? fred13
I think it sounds like a great idea, but it will take some time untill our mods for other games reach the capacity of other modding sites.
angryrat
do it!
jhath
especially with the server issues at maddenmods, i would think nate would be open to maybe merging the sites... most of our community at madden mods is from here anyways...
TobiasLS
Would this not create a further problem with the bandwidth???
jhath
yes and no... it would likely require a more expensive server, but theoretically with a bigger community, bigger donations would come in... theoretically... eamods would be a great domain change if we encompassed more, but some clever guy already thought of that ;)
UncleMo
Trues, would this include a change of name to this site? Examlpe, krawhitham, as I'm sure you know, has an all inclusive domain name EAMODS.COM, which may be dangerous to jump to since it uses EA's name and logo design mark. Anyway, I'm babbling. My point is, would you change this domain name to something that sounds all inclusive? Leave it the same? And regarding bandwidth, I've brought up an idea in site issues thread or suggestions for the site thread that we save some of the bandwidth by reporting to an admin about deleting useless threads authored by ourselves. Your thoughts? Edit: I think that this would be a great idea so that we could see what other files are transferrable between games. We'd have to do a media blitz, to pull other members in, I would think, so we can put other modding sites out of biz. Like, join an NBA live website and have our sigs mention something about mvp mods or waht not.
jhath
also, trues, its probably something you already know, but i ran across it in my reading... the google adsense bot is apparently a real bandwidth hog because it follows every user everywhere they visit in the site... the google bot isnt so bad, but apparently the google adsense one is... im sure you already knew this, but.... in case you didnt, i wanted to tell ya anyways... Trues
I would leave the domain name as is at least for now. As far as server issues go, that can be dealt with when and if the time comes.
UncleMo
Lastly, then, when would you pull the trigger on the decision?
SwinginSoriano
With bandwith being a problem even for just the MVP 2005 community, I'd think it would be a bigger problem than it's worth. (Especially due to the fact that many were suggesting that members should be paying to use MVPmods a while ago.)

JoeRudi26
Even though there are sites out there specifically for the other games you mentioned, I'd rather deal with a community I already 'know', if you will. I think this is a great idea.
UncleMo
Just one more. Will you be running for office in 08? I figure if Condi doesn't run, I really don't care who wins. Just wondering.
Hoop27
would this explain why madden-mods has been down for half a day?
jhath
no i dont hnk so, nate was downgrading the server i think....

krawhitham
EAMODS.COM, which may be dangerous to jump to since it uses EA's name and logo design mark. all I did was hit "E" followed by an "A" in photoshop with a good font

Hoop27
i think i made this thread up on madden-mods earlier in the week (great minds think alike?) And as was mentioned earlier there are some extremely talented people here and I would love to see some of them try their hand at other games. The main reason this was brought up over at madden-mods was there is such a limit to what you can mod in Madden a few guys started talking about doing something for NHL and NBA. Personally I would love to see this happen. technically i'm a "modder" over at madden-mods but I'd love to see what the real modders could do with some of these games! Hory
I don't really see what the point of this idea is... football-freaks already covers anything madden-related and double minor does the same for NHL They already do a great job for their respective games and have really strong communities, why bother trying (and failing) to outdo them? I dont think you need to outdo them at all. I always think having more choices is a good thing. I mean I've been going to football-freaks for years but never had the inkling to try and mod anything. But there was a need for a few things over at madden-mods so I tried my hand at doing some uni's there. And I'm sure 2 people are enjoying them as we speak
