MVP frustration

I'm relatively new to MVP, having just recently converted from the HH series. I am also one of the few that plays CPU vs CPU. instead of using the lack luster manager mode, i choose to watch each and every at bat.

I am playing with the phillies and, through 40 games, have about half as many runs scored as any other team. Rarely is the combined score of one of my games over 3. My team avg is about .200 but my pitching staff has an era of about 1.

Is this because my games aren't simmed like the rest of the games in the league are? Or are there slider settings that i need to adjust to fix this? Also, i am playing with team chemistry off and hot/cold zones off, does that matter?

Hi Jorespn,

I too am soley a CPU vs CPU type enthusiast with this game while occassionally making Manager substitution changes . I would suggest trying a few things.

1) Make certain you have either Patch 2 or Patch 3 installed - This alone could account for having only about 1/2 of the Home Runs

2) Play on Pro Mode

3) Use the Roddata V7 datafile fix

4) Set Power slider to +18

Pitch Speed to +4

Steal Aggressiveness to -14

Steal Delay to -4

Steal Speed to +4

Base Running Aggressiveness to +8

5) Continue to adjust these and other sliders until you get the type of game results you feel comfortable with.

These are a few thoughts. Hope you enjoy this game.

Take Care,

Don

ok..help me out on this one... I cannot understand why anyone (this is no knock on you jorge) would want to play CPU vs CPU. Is there something I'm missing?!

I haven't really figured that out either...I guess I used to do something like that with the old Earl Weaver Baseball series...but it was more like managing, calling for steals, calling for bunts, subbing players and pitchers etc...One Pitch mode was great for that...I used to set up entire schedules (EWB didn't have a season mode as such, only single games), and would play all the games, so for teams that weren't mine I would just set both teams to CPU and let them go, fortunately back then I had a pretty fast computer (for the time) and the games took around 2 minutes each or less.

I would suggest cranking up the offensive sliders (Contact, Power, Baserunning speed) to increase the runs scored....

people that like CPU Vs CPU are the same people that hire two hookers and watch them go at it while they sit in the corner and enjoy the showw in their shady, sketchy silhouette..

loooOOL..kidding, but it might be true.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've messed a little with the sliders, but i'll definitely have to keep doing that. I've been playing on ALLSTAR so far, and had never thought of switching it, but i'll be doing that too. What is this datafix file that was mentioned above?

As for CPU vs CPU, or manage only mode: I've been playing these games since FPS baseball pro came out in 1994. I began playing like everyone else. But then i got tired of winning because of my ability to press buttons on a controller. The FPS series was perfect for my manage only style of play. I guess because most people play these games the same way they would on a ps2, baseball games have become much less worried about options like one pitch mode. I'm sure that the out of the park series is the best for what i want EXCEPT for its being text based. I may be weird, but i HAVE to see everything happen for myself, not read about it

thanks again for the help, if you have other suggestions let me know...

This is my first post to this board, but I've been monitoring the discussions for several months now. I'd like to say you guys do a terrific job modding this game.

I also play CPU vs CPU because I like the manager end of it. HH 2002 was great for managing while watching, and I played that right up until this spring when MVP came out. I find the biggest challenge, however, is trying to keep a step ahead of my own manager. He pulls the dumbest moves, and can shoot down three innings worth of planning ahead. I can usually keep a hand in the decision making by taking manual control at times, for bunts, steals, etc.

Jorespn, I've tried a number of settings and like the one I'm using lately. I use the Roddata 7 Kamasutra POV mixed mod, and play on MVP level with hitting tuned up quite a bit. I see good pitching, but also get some lively rallies too. I can either post or send you my slider settings if you like.
