Mav3rek
Pujols : Thanks man. 8ball : thanks for the info, i'll keep that in mind. it will be usefull in the future. Dunit : I think you mean to post that in another dynasty.. Dom2662 : I'd like to get Bailey and Renteria also, but I'm considering some other options as well. to all : what about this? dump Radke on Baltimore for Tejada, or on Washington for Soriano. and then make a trade for Kerry Wood from the Cubs? if he's healthy he's good, and i'm sure it wouldn't take a whole lot to get him. Then my rotation would look like this: Santana Wood Silva Baker Bonser with Liriano eventually back somewhere. Once Liriano came back I could move one of the 4 into the closers role if Rincon sucks. Kerry Wood could be a potentially lethal closer. Just some ideas i'm throwing around.

Mav3rek
Royals Sweep Twins, Make Trades Afterwards The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Kansas City Royals today, and for the 3rd straight game they were beaten by the score of 3-2. Also for the 2nd straight game Joe Nathan gave up the winning hit. Even no longer being in the closers role helped out Nathan. The Twins got behind early thinks to Joey Gathright's double, and then a single by Mark Grudzelanik would score Gathright to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. The Twins would answer back in the top of the 5th, after a 2 out single by Kubel, Punto would double into the left field gap to tie it at 1. The score would remain tied until Emil Brown would homer in the top of the 6th to break the tie. With the score 2-1, the Twins would not score again until the top of the 9th, when Mauer would hit a Jorge De La Rosa 1-0 pitch into the right field bullpen to tie it at 2. But Joe Nathan wouldn't be able to hold off the Royals in the bottom of the 9th, giving up a game winning single to Mark Grudzelanik. "It was just another dissapointing loss for us. It seems we are just right there every game, but find a way to lose it." said Gardenhire. After the game the Twins would make some moves though to try and help out their situation. Minnesota made 3 seperate moves in an attempt to try and right the ship. Firstly the Twins sent AAA pitcher J.D. Durbin to the Cincinnati Reds, in exchange for single A shortstop Hector Tiburcio, and AAA pitcher Homer Bailey. Bailey will take Durbin's spot in the AAA rotation, with Tiburcio going to single A and being a bench player. Seperately the Twins would also ship out long time Twin, and starter Brad Radke to the Washington Nationals in exchange for outfielder Alfonso Soriano. To take Radke's spot in the rotation, Minnesota signed free agent pitcher Sidney Ponson to a 1 year contract. "Sidney will take Brad's spot in the rotation, and Soriano will start in right field, with Cuddyer moving to 3rd and Punto moving to shortstop. Jason Barlett was sent down to AA. " said the Twins GM, "We're really excited about the moves we've made and feel that we have improved our team to the best of our ability. We're confident that these moves will help us get back on track, and get things going." Above:The Royals celebrate another win, Joe Nathan can't watch after another rough outing. Twin Talk Soriano:"I'm happy to be here. Hopefully we can get this thing turned around and get the offense rolling" Radke:"I'm more than dissapointed to have been traded. I wanted to finish my career with Minnesota. I understand this is a business and everything, but I was happy there. I'll try my best though to help out Washington and make them a better team." Mav3rek
Tigers Crush Ponson, Sidney Traded Afterward A new lineup, same result. The Twins were only able to manage3 runs against the Tigers today, while giving up 13. Ponson struggled in his Twins debut, and was immediately shipped to Kansas City after the game in exchnage for Scott Elarton. Ponson only lasted 3 innings allowing 8 runs, half of which came on Ivan Rodriguez's Grand Slam. The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead, and never looked back. On the bright side for the Twins Alfosno Soriano went 2-4 with an RBI in his debut with the Twins. Soriano also had 2 stolen bases in the game as well. The Tigers got 4 RBI's from Rodriguez, 3 from Chris Shelton, 2 from Ordonez, and 3 from Placido Polanco. The Tigers pounded out 23 hits off the Twins pitching. Joe Nathan allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of work, while Jesse Crain gave up 3 runs. The Tiwns have lost 9 of their last 10 games, but this was the only one in which it was never close. Just when the Twins thought they had their lineup all set, Nick Punto strained his forearm, and will miss at least the next couple of weeks. No word has come down yet as to who will take Punto's spot on the roster. The Twins have 2 more games left with Detroit before returning home for a short home stand. Mav3rek
Twins Finish Up Terrible April, With Terrible Loss. April showers bring May flowers goes the old saying. Fans of the Minnesota Twins can only hope this rings true for Major League Baseball Teams as well. The Twins finished up an 8-15 April, with back to back loses to the Detroit Tigers by 9 or more runs. April was a terrible month all around for the Twins. Multiple injuries, multiple dissapointments, and multiple terrible losses. Probably the biggest dissapointment has to be Twins start center fielder Torii Hunter. Hunter finished the month hitting just .267 with no homeruns and just 1 RBI, and that was via a bases loaded walk. With it being a contract year for Torii, many would have thought production would have improved. But now there are rumors of Torii Hunter being on the trading block, and could be shipped out as early as the end of the week. If Hunter were dealt, it would help clear up a spot for Hector Tiburcio. Thought to be just a throw in with the Homer Bailey trade, after Punto was placed on the DL, Tiburcio was called up and got the start against Mike Maroth and went 2/4 with an RBI. It is thought that he may platoon at short with Louis Rodriguez, until one proves himself over the other. The only real good news about the month of April for the Twins is that it's over, and can only get better. Above:Granderson makes a great diving catch that wasn't really needed, Rincon actually provides some relief. Twin Talk Silva:"I don't know what the deal is, but it needs to be figured out quick." Mav3rek
Twins Figure Out How To Win It was bound to happen sometime. The Twins couldn't lose the rest of their games. It was a great way to start off a new month. The Minnesota Twins salvaged a win against the division leading Detroit Tigers, thanks to another great performance by Scott Baker. Baker went 6 shutout innings, only allowing 5 hits. Baker was dominating the entire time he was in there, and the bullpen actually provied some relief for a change, and allowed the Twins to pickup the win. The Twins coulnd't make it easy though, they had to make it interesting. Juan Rincon was brought in to try to get his first save of the year, entereing the game he had a 0.00 E.R.A. His first pitch was hit by Ivan Rodriguez into the seats in left for a solo homer, 3 pitches later there was 1 out. Next batter Rincon had 0-2 before hanging a slider that Sean Casey crushed off the back wall of the right field bullpen. Rincon would settle down though and get the next 2 batters to earn his first save of the year. Mauer gave the Twins a 4-0 lead when he hit a 3 run homer in the top of the 6th. The Twins got their other run thanks to a Rondell White solo shot in the 2nd off of Jusin Verlander. Interestingly enough this game was played without the help of Torii Hunter. Hunter who has been rumored to be on his way out of Minnesota got a day off, and it just so happened to be the day the Twins would break their losing streak. Among the rumors swirling around, Hunter has been rumored to be headed to the Bronx in exchange for right hander Mike Mussina. Mussina has struggled a little bit this season, and that is probably the reason the trigger hasn't been pulled on this trade yet. Other rumors have Hunter going to the Mets, but it has been mixed as to what they would get in return. The consensus though is they wouldn't get anything near the caliber of a Mike Mussina. Time will only tell how this will work out for the Twins though, it should be interesting. Above:The Tigers react after the 2nd homer in the bottom of the 9th, and Rincon breathes a sigh of relief. Twin Talk Mauer:"This was a win we definately needed. I'm just glad to be able to contribute" Rinco:"I had to make it interesting." ChicagoCubs720
great dynasty! I'd strongly consider picking up Wood and putting him in your 'pen. Or maybe you could just go grab Ugueth Urbina from the clinker :smirk:
Mav3rek
Twins Cant Win Two In A Row. Ron Gardenhire decided to rest his 2 best offensive threats, the day after they broke their 10 game losing streak, and the Mariners took advantage of not only that, but some poor pitching from Boof Bonser. Bonser lasted just 5 innings, allowing 8 hits and 8 runs, but only 3 were earned. There have been rumore circling now with this poor performance that Bonser may only have a couple more shots before he's sent down and Liriano is brought back. The Mariners got strong support from both Eduardo Perez and Richie Sexson who had 3 RBI apiece. Johjima and Beltre also both had 2 run homers for the Mainers, to help lead the route of the Twins. Things should be looking up for the Twins, as they send ace Johan Santana to the hill with a full lineup including Mauer and Soriano to try and earn the split in the 2 game series against the Mariners. Above:Kenji Johjima's 2 run homer, and the reaction from the Mariners dugout. Twin Talk Gardenhire:"I know people will question the decision to rest Soriano and Mauer a day after finally winning one, but they were dead tired and needed a rest badly. Now I've got them well rested, and they will be good to go for a while" Bonser:"I just didn't have my good stuff today, I've been struggling so far this year." Mav3rek
ChicagoCubs720 : thanks for the input man. I'm considering it strongly, but the only thing I'd be willing to give up would be Torii Hunter, and i'd have to get more than just Wood, especially if I can swing Mussina for him straight up. I'll have to try and get creative and see what I can come up with.
D-Unit
Keep Torii. He will come around, as will the whole team. Remember what they did last year. And you don't need anymore pitching from the outside, you have Liriano, Homer Bailey, and Matt Garza in the minors.
Dom2662
I would focus on a SS now. Its up to you if you wanna trade Torii for a SS.
Mav3rek
DUnit : I'm glad you mentioned Garza b/c I had completelyt forgotten about him b/c I didn't see him, and now I know why....he's hurt...he's got 39 more days with a torn knee meniscus which sucks, but he's someone I completely forgot about, so I'll probably keep Hunter now until I see what happens there. Dom : I sent Bartlett down, and now have Punto playing short and he's actually doing well, he's just hurt right now. But I'll keep that in mind. Mav3rek
Santana and Twins Shutdown Mariners The Minnesota Twins rebouned from a tough loss yesterday to the Mariners by sending out Johan Santan to stop the Mariners. Santana was dominant for 8 innings, and the offense spotted him 5 runs to work with, and the Twins pulled out a solid win over the Mariners 5-2. The Twins got to Felix Hernandez early thanks to a Torii Hunter 2 run single in the first, yes that's right Torii Hunter got himself 2 RBIs in the game, his first 2 RBI's of the season. The Twins followed up the 2 run first with a 2 run second thanks to a 2 run single by Louis Castillo. With a 4-0 lead, Santana went to work, and went right after the Mariners hitters and shut them down for 8 innings, and only allowing 2 runs. Juan Rincon came in and pitched a 1, 2, 3 ninth to get his 2nd save of the year. "It was nice to see Hunter get himself a couple RBIs especially with the way things have gone, and with all the rumors going around." said Garenhire, "Maybe things are starting to turn around for him." Next up for the Twins, the Royals come to town. In their previous series the Royals swept the Twins in Kansas City. Taking the mound for the Royals will be Zack Grienke, while former Royals Scott Elarton takes the hill for his Twins debut. Above:Yes folks, that is a 2 run single by Hunter, The Twins react after a nice win. Twin Talk Santana:"We played well today. Mav3rek
Elarton Shutsdown Former Team, Offense Does Just Enough Scott Elarton made a sucessful debut tonight for the Minnestoa Twins, against his former team the Kansas City Royals. Elarton went 6 solid innings and didn't give up a single run. Over those 6 innings he allowed just 5 hits, and had 2 strikeouts. Zack Grienke was almost as good for the Royals. Grienke pitched a compete game, but gave up RBI singles to Louis Castillo and Joe Mauer, to put himself in a 2-0 hole. The Royals offense just wasn't able to solve the Twins pitching staff and the Twins were able to do just enough to get the win. The Twins have now won 2 straight games, and still have 2 more gmaes left in this series to try and go on a nice winning streak and try to get out of the cellar of the Central Division.
