ronmexico
He tests his bomb cause he wants to have the upper hand on America, not just the upper hand, he wants to be in a position of great power, and having a nuke puts you in power.

Kccitystar
The is just the latest example of what happens when Gay marriage is the #1 or #2 reason behind your vote for a president. I don't understand, we care about Iran getting nukes more than NK testing them? I mean what the hell?
DJEagles
Fact of the matter is he needs to be eliminated. I am not a backer of George W. but if N.Korea decides to sell to Iran or Al Quedi, then the world is in BIG trouble. Scares me to think what could happen in the future... Kccitystar
Why is it important for countries to spend billions of dollars developing a weapon to kill millions of people? Humans are real frickin stupid, we could of came together in peace and invented something new and helpful instead of figuring out the best way to destroy ourselves. DJEagles
Last time I checked NK had no oil Exactly. Oil runs in Bush's viens. Now all of his mistakes are starting to catch up to him. What a mess this world has become. I look at my son, and wonder what kind of future there is for him. You know what scare me the most? The fact that Bush is in office for two more years... Kccitystar
Let's say there is a conflict. North Korea threatens to aim a nuke to South Korea. consider this. The shaded area is North Korea. Even though North Korea has the fifth largest military in the world (an estimated 1.1 Million Troops), they are surrounded by South Korea's 600,000 plus, 17,000 US troops stationed at the DMZ, the Chinese PLA's 2 Million plus and Japan's 200,000 plus in it's Self-Defense Forces. Need i remind you also about the lack of sophistication that North Korea's military technology. The United States wouldn't have to act as a world police in the war. North Korea is surrounded by countries who don't approve of their actions as of late. It really doesn't matter if they align themselves with Russia, Iran or Syria, none of those nations are in a position to assist North Korea in the event of a military conflict. My point is, the United States doesn't need to do anything because it doesn't concern them. If North Korea can land a missle in the Pacific Ocean then you'll have something to talk about. But at this moment, the US' focus should be in the middle east because there seems to be a growing number of nations that are feeding off of anti-american sentiment and could be assisting insurgents and harboring terrorists. North Korea wants the US government's attention due to Kim Jong Il's Napoleonaic tendencies. He has a sizeable military and he wants to prove his might as a world power by going for the top dog. It's quite understandable, but is a dumb move for Jong Il because he doesn't have the sophistication or the means to attack the United States. What is up?We are blocking free trade for his country and we refuse to talk to NK directly, he feels if he has some power and can flex it we will allow him to trade freely. UncleMo
We are blocking just because they're still commis? I mean, China is and we trade with them. We still holding a grudge against them and Cuba? Or, are we blocking trade with them because of the Korean War still? Or is it because he's been trying to make this bomb for years and we don't agree? Either way, there was A LOT of better ways to spend his money. NK and China are buds so it is not like anyone wants to attack NK. Meh. What a waste of money. I could have used some of that $ spent on nukes to buy me some investments.
Kccitystar
North Korea was promised food and fuel aid (among other things) from South Korea, the U.S.A., Japan, Russia, and the PRC in exchange for abandoning its nuclear weapons program and rejoining the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Unfortunately, 22 percent of the nation is malnourished and the rest of the citizens can't afford the high prices in the marketplace. Kim Jong Il's priorities have never taken the needs of his citizens into consideration. The man is obsessed with military strength and will continue to until he has a major military victory or starts a Cold War with the United States.
