Money

Im at the halfway point in my first dynasty season with the Brewers. I have about $14 millillion to spend cuz Im way under budget. I decided to re-sign some players at the halfway point who deserved a new contract and so fourth.

But scrolling through my minor league rosters, particularly pitchers, most of whom have never pitched a single inning in MLB are requesting huge increases in contract money next season. Guys making like $300k want about $1.60 million. Now I have enough money to re-sign most of them, but thats not the point, Im not gonna re-sign a my AAA 2nd or 3rd starter for over $1 million if I prob wont use him at all. Id rather have a ton of money in the bank then a AA ace making more than some players on MLB pitching staff.

So I just want to know if theres anything in particular that you guys do to avoid contract confrontations like this or is re-signing them the only option? Cuz I dont know about you, but Im not too thrilled on the idea of my AAA rotation payroll totalling $5 - $6 million....

I was going to make a mod that relates to minor leaguers but don't have time to do it. It would not work for your current season, but if you were to install it before you begin your next year, this file will be used when negotiating contracts from then on. So me and you are both screwed in our current year contracts. Do what I'm doing instead as a temporary fix:

Go to player edit, edit the sorry/average players to have one star ratings, then go to payroll and resign whoever you want, then change their rating back to whatever it was. In most cases they'll still be overpaid but you may be able to salvage not losing a ton of your players.

As for a permantant fix, anyone willing to spend the time, please open the progress.big file, extract the file called contracts or whatever it is called, and go from there. Please do go to wild on your edits, and please upload to the site. I'm begging ya.

Can you explain how to open progress.big and do you know what parameters should be fixed in there?

Does ronmexico´s progression mod change anything of this?

Ya we are screwed, to re-sign my AAA & AA team will cost over $9 million. Its ridiculous. Im not about to do that. So Im thinking re-sign most of them, than trade them off for AA or A ball prospects and basically promote my entire AA team from the season before to AAA. These are very good minor league prospects, but I have no use for them at the time being on the big club.

hope you are asking because you are about to take this on.

use biggui to open the progress.big file. You won't ever hear me recommend biggui but this is one case where it is ok to use it for the progress.big file.

When you open the file and extract the one file you need out of there (it is a .csv file, so I hope you have Microsoft Excel on your PC) you will see what parameters are in there and they will be a bit obvious.

I think it said something like 1,2,3,4,5 (as in 1 star rated players and so forth all the way up to five star players).

The ones I was going to change was the amount of money they were asking for. Those parameters. Example, you'll see the ages listed of the player.

18 year old, 1 star rating, asks for 100 ($100,00) and maybe it said 3 years. Well, I'd leave that alone and go to all 19year olds and make sure that if it says that 19 year olds rated one star are asking for about the same. I'd max out all one star players, depending on age, to only make up to $300,000 (this should say 300 in the file, not $300,000). So that is what you are looking for.

It would be nice if 1,2 and 3 star players were changed from ages, I don't know, 18-28. I suppose because I'm assuming they will stay in the minors and if they are called up won't do too too well and only make the MLB minimum, which is about 300k a year.

Edit: I did ask RonMexico and he said he did not change that one file. I was about to do it the other day but remembered that I had better use my time else where.

So I ended up trying to import the edited file, did that successfully, the new dynasty loaded nicely but problem was that every single guy in the FA-pool requested contracts of 0 years.

Anyway, it's gettin' late so if anyone wants to go at it, I've the file I decoded (xls). You need to export the contract.csv from your progress.big in order to make any in-game changes just like Mo described on the previous page of this thread.

Good luck guys!

Did you change the years by any chance? Maybe that is why this happened...

No, not that I recall.

Anyway, I've uploaded the file and it just needs the admin approval before you guys can take a stab at it. I'll continue the quest tomorrow night if I find an opening in my schedule...

Hey guys, won't that mean if you proceed to release it it will have that problem of 0 years being asked for?

And doesn't that mean they are lazy?

They want to work no years for x number of dollars. Buncha bums.

I have an idea, I will try it out with my contracts.csv. I will use Totte's numbers, cause I am sure that they are realistic enough, he knows what he's doing.

Where can I get Totte's numbers?

I downloaded Totte's files, and I realized this is what I already have, only slightly more updated. I'll tell you what the problem is...The file has issues reading it in excel because of some autotab kinda thing in excel, so when you resave it, you have to put it as in the original formatting. Honestly, it's not a matter of cracking it, it's a matter of doing it. I didn't do it because I felt that it was a waste of my time, cause I never had major issues with the way that players demand $$$. I'll do it, cause I love the community. I knew how to do it, and if anyone really wants to know how (though I will take care of it by tonight) feel free to PM me.

EDIT:

Problem found

Umm, Totte, I just realized that your problem is that you have commas in there. Like in the colums it says "133.333,". The commas are implied between boxes in the CSV file.

SUPER EDIT:

BETA testing time. Gonna make sure I don't have the same glitches as Totte, and that I have the desired results. If it all goes well, you guys should have my progression mod soon, with this file included...

3rd EDIT:

I have pitchers asking for a lot less, what it is, I changed the acceptable amount. For players 18-24, I changed the amount the original asking for, and made it less, and also the amount they are willing to accept. For players 18-29 I adjusted how much they will find acceptable only. This means, you can negotiate more with them, play a little hardball. I will put it up as Ron Mexico's Progression Mod v5.5 I believe, and you download that, and your contracts are more updated then they were when I released it originally. I think that it is well done, but what the hey, go try it out for yourself. The contracts are down to about 400K for a AA pitcher, and about 600-700 K for a AAA pitcher (3 stars for both, about 75% per star going down between 1-3 stars). Position players ask for less natively, so I couldn't really do anything about that, the game just rates pitching over position players (as it should be...). GO METS!

4th EDIT:

OK Done, Up, and ready for download. Try it out, gimme suggestions for money matters if you have any.
