yeah it's a corrupt file, maybe the last mod installed? i've had it happen a couple of times before. so learning the hard way i did this: made backup of ALL orig files (on cd by the way), then peridiocally made backups of all modded files installed assuming i had no problems w/ the game. this way when i hit the roadblock i could just rewrite everything w/ the original and then make sure the game loaded then rewrite with the modded files. try to think of what the last mod installed was. and work backwards.

a firewall can also cause a freeze...check your firewall and make sure you either allow mvp baseball 2004 to connect to the internet or disallow it.

and if you aren't sure just close your firewall then try to open mvp baseball 2004

keep in mind if you already allowed the application once...that a slight change in the exe can cause your firewall to ask about it again.

maybe i'll look into that firewall thing

final solution

Reinstall XP

Some driver or MOD installed is lefted in your registry probably So completely reinstall XP and than install MVP should work.

To fix anything wrong with the registry you might wanna try "Registry First Aid". Again, I had that SAME issue after upgrading my drivers..Also, try System Restore.

amazingly this just started happening to me...it was pretty ridiclous

either way do you have a modified datafile?...if so take it out of your game file then try to open the game

i did and then it loaded fine. I wish i could explain why it wigged out like that but i can't either way this is probably your problem

b4 u go and reinstall xp or buy a new hard drive or whatever, try cleaning out your system try this prog - http://www.firase.com/ it works really good. first uninstall the game then, dlete ALL ur saved mvp04 files INCLUDING the ones in my docs (dynasty etc.), then run the cleaner. then reinstall. see if that helps first. u shouldn't have to reinstall ur OS or firewall or anything else aside from a bad driver because of this game. if u like the program i can get the free 30 day trial extended for u.
