I'm going to dinner and a movie this evening with my fiance, and was looking for a good movie suggestion. Right now its narrowed down to Man of the Year or Employee of the Month. Anyone sees either one of these? Are either of these any good? No spoilers, just opinions please.

I would say Man of the Year. I saw some of it and what I saw was very funny and pretty good.

I haven't seen either movie, but I love the part in Man of the Year when Robin Williams says, "I've never had sexual relations with that women,... I wanted to." :lmao:

Very, very funny stuff from what I saw. That was the best part...

Both are quite bad.

Employee of the Month tries to be more than just a screwball comedy and falls far short of that. The first time I laughed was actually about a half hour into the movie. It lacks jokes and tries to fill the time with sap and an inspirational story. The movie was too long and lost it's focus several times -- with such a great cast it was a shame to see the movie suffer from poor writing.

Just saw Man of the Year last night and I was disappointed with that as well, although if I had to choose one of these two to reccomend, I'd go with Man of the Year. You will laugh at Robin Williams, but also be prepared to endure a love story/drama/suspense thriller.

The movie starts off slow and that is pretty much the pace it follows throughout. The laughs are abundant when Robin Williams opens his mouth to improv, but don't expect funny moments from elsewhere. The movie primarily focuses on the election's drama/suspense and Laura Linney's character, (whom I thought was poorly acted and totally un-needed).

In the theater where I saw this, some people were having a hard time knowing when to laugh and when to not laugh -- people went in expecting a straight up comedy but that's not at all what this movie is.

I thought it looked funny, and I don't really want to see employee of the month b/c I hate hate hate andy dick, even if he's got a small part in it.. I thought Man of the Year would be the better choice also, but the reviews I've read have been horrible.

I would have seen it, but it was already playing by the time we were doing to get there....

here's a review of man of the year....

it was....eh...ok....

it just tried to do too much.

it tried to be a comedy...and was ok as a comedy

it tried to be a love story....and was eh, ok as a love story

it tried to be a drama...and was eh, ok as a drama

it tried to be a suspense movie...and was ok as a suspense movie...

if it would have focused on only one of these it probably would have been good.
