yes you can. i think the limit is around 127 or something. open the pitcher.dat file in your database folder (not data folder, so pay close attention) with wordpad. find your picther, and edit the 7th number for the fastball. close it and hit yes to save. it will now be to whatever speed you want. you can now use MVPedit and import from your database folder and you will see that the changes were made.

I once made smoltz hit 111 and it was some guy online either KCCitystar's little brother or someone else that I was playing against and they were like "I didn't know Smoltz can throw 111mph. lol. Anyway, it works. Great way to cheat the game or goof off if you want.

BTW, I lost that game. In the end, cheaters never win.

7th number prob. looks like this

1 10,2 10,3 10,4 10, 5 10,6 10,7 96

above, the number 10's you see are made up by me since I don't know what they'll see for each player.

Above, you'll see the comma, number 7, and the speed of a players fastball. Edit that number from 96 to 127 and there you go.

Could you show me what the 7th number is, I'm confused

When you open up pitcher.dat with a text editor, the first line is as follows (all on a single line):

0 first_name,1 last_name,2 pitchattrib_stamina,3 pitchattrib_pickoff,4 pitchattrib_fastball_movement,5 pitchattrib_fastball_description,6 pitchattrib_fastball_control,7 pitchattrib_fastball_velocity,8 pitchattrib_pitch2_type,9 pitchattrib_pitch2_movement,10 pitchattrib_pitch2_description,11 pitchattrib_pitch2_control,12 pitchattrib_pitch2_velocity,13 pitchattrib_pitch3_type,14 pitchattrib_pitch3_movement,15 pitchattrib_pitch3_description,16 pitchattrib_pitch3_control,17 pitchattrib_pitch3_velocity,18 pitchattrib_pitch4_type,19 pitchattrib_pitch4_movement,20 pitchattrib_pitch4_description,21 pitchattrib_pitch4_control,22 pitchattrib_pitch4_velocity,23 pitchattrib_pitch5_type,24 pitchattrib_pitch5_movement,25 pitchattrib_pitch5_description,26 pitchattrib_pitch5_control,27 pitchattrib_pitch5_velocity,28 pitchattrib_pitcher_delivery,;

Note that item #7 for each pitcher is his fastball velocity. For example, here's an entry for Roger Clemens from the Total Classics 6 roster:

0fff50ac3,0 Roger,1 Clemens,2 90,3 7,4 5,5 6,6 88,7 94,8 2,9 8,10 4,11 81,12 79,13 7,14 9,15 4,16 77,17 92,18 6,19 6,20 7,21 71,22 87,23 -,24 -,25 -,26 -,27 -,28 5,;

Item #7 (the bit I highlighted) is his fastball velocity -- 94 mph. If you wanted to give him a 102 mph fastball, you would just change this to "7 102".

I just messed around with it myself with Glavine and set it at 135mph and the catcher never catches it, it's always a wild pitch. That's pretty cool though i never knew about this.

i don't know that chaning it beyond the current limits will do anything. but look at jim's posting on the first page of this thread. open up the file and look at the top line. look for the movement for the pitch you want, and edit that corresponding number. for instance, the fastball's is number 4.

I threw 103 without MVP edit or anything.

Yeah, I'm confused... I've hit 103mph without editing anything. Just regular pitching, with a pitcher who is at "100" using the in-game editor, when you go all the way to the "top" of the power bar, hits 102 or 103 regularly.

that didnt work at all, anytime i set the pitcher to a number above 100 i had what evil1192 described for faster pitches.... anything set over 100 in the .dat gets past the catcher every single time...even when you throw it right down the pipe where hte catcher's chest would be to stop the ball.
