Final: 7-3 W

TEXAS-- The Tigers started the scoring early off the Japan righthanded flamethrower Daisuke Matsuzaka with a solo shot by Magglio Ordonez

in the 1st after the first two were down on strikes.

That would be all the scoring up into the 3rd as the Tigers shortstop Carlos Guillen went yard. That was a 2-run shot. The Rangers also scored two in that bottom frame off three doubles to the gap off Maroth. (Tigers pitcher Rogers's start was skipped because of a sore knee).

The big inning of the game was the 7th as the Rangers scored five runs off Maroth. Set-up Todd Jones came in for Maroth. The big hit was a double off the bat of free-agent-to-be CF Gary Matthews. "I think that inning was big for us", Rangers skipper Juan Agosto said. "I also liked the performace of Matsuzaka. Hopefully Millwood can go out there tomorrow and give us three straigh (wins)"

Tomorrow's starters will be Texas Rangers Kevin Millwood and Tigers flamethrower Justin Verlander. Game time is at 7:15.
