UncleMo
I would like to know as I never see a starter reach 100 pitches before a reliever comes in. It could be that I need to make adjustments to my sliders. Can you please post your responses here so that I may know if it is "just me"? I think I'm getting up to about 75 pitches before the starter is yanked. I do sometimes have a hard time being patient with all of my batters. Sometimes I go up swinging. When I'm patient I try to get about 15 pitches from the PC's pitcher, assuming I'm going to make 3 straight outs. That would be 5 pitches per batter, 65 total pitches by the end of the 5th. Now, if you think this is average, I'd like to hear so. If this is too low (65) then I'd like to hear that as well. Before you post your responses, my goal is to achieve what Wade Boggs said- He said his/his teams goal was to get the pitcher to throw 100 pitches by the 5th inning. I've never achieved that, even with my game last night where I was walked 4 straight times by the PC at one point. Thanks for your responses. jhath
about 50 on a normal day... if im being patient, 75... its something that I haven't been able to fix due to my intrinsic lack of patience, so i turned cpu pitching stamina down to compensate.... i was in an extra innings game once, and a reliever with 37 stamina went 6 innings on me, and was still over half stamina.... D-Unit
I have been getting starters to reach 100 pitches by the sixth and seventh innings lately.
Kccitystar
Oh I foul a LOT of pitches so I would say 75-80 the most
Don
That's what I think about starting each game. Get the opposing pitcher to work. I try to foul balls on purpose, but it doesn't usually work. I would say the opposing pitcher throws about 70-80. I have gotten them to throw more than 100 on occasion.
Sean O
In all-star level games over the past 2 weeks or so, I've been getting between 115-130 from starters. I've been working on my patience lately, really only focusing in on pitches I think I can drive. With certain players, I've been able to wait out the outside pitches and go opposite field. Or, when it's '55 Dodgers vs. '53 Yanks, just wait for Bob Kuzava to come in, then beat the hell out of him.
D-Unit
Some pitchers I don't bother being patient with are Zito and El Duque, because you can see the pitch a few seconds before letting go of the ball, so I always know what comes. I end up throwing around 60-70 pitches through 7 innings, trying to work up a more realistic count for myself.

Dom2662
I usually throw 100 in 7, 8 innings. My opponent throws 65-80 pitches through 7, 8.

tommywombat
I can be very patient. I always try to be extremly patient when facing an all-star caliber pitcher such as Santana or a Schilling. Those guys usually keep my bats quiet. On average the CPU throws 60-85 through 8 on me. But when playing the big guns they throw 100-125 through 5, sometimes 6. On one occasion I saw Santana throw 154 on me through 7. I was wondering when they were going to take him out. lol.
chubbyd
I am on All Star, and usually get the opponent to get very realistic numbers, around 100 in the 7th or 8th. I usually pitch around 50-60 and set my stamina to get tired around there to make it realistic. If I set the AI swing slider up or down, I get a ton of strikouts- either looking or swinging depending on where I set the slider.
JP_Frost
I try to get the opposing pitcher to throw about 15 pitches per inning, and they will through 4 or 5 innings, so I usually get them to 80-90 through six or seven. I once had Mussina throw 120+ through 5 against me. They finally took him out
MagicHands8686
I play on All-Star with Hoops sliders and MD’s Datafile. The computer averages about 150 pitches through 6 innings; I’m trying to get this number down. I average 100 – 120 pitches over 7 innings. My biggest problem is taking more pitches then I should, I get a ton of walks but I also strikeout looking a few times every game. My other problem is sometimes if I’m playing with the DH rule on the computer doesn’t pull the starting pitcher when he gets tired. Once I had Scott Kazmir over 200 pitches with 0 stamina in the ninth inning. Sure I only had three hits off of him at this point but it was still bizarre, I ended up scoring four runs in the ninth before they finally pulled him.
