Greetings All,

Welcome to the League of Elite!! This league is designed for those of us that want to enjoy MVP Baseball 2005 updated, and against real human competition. This will not only be a fair league, but a fun league. We will not tolerate anyone who takes advantage of the game. Besides, what's the fun in that anyway?

What we will tolerate, is a league where everyone starts out equally and has a chance to prove themselves. What makes us unique is that everyone controls two teams, so you have twice the fun!

Everyone in the league will play 20 American League games and 20 National League games. That's a total of 40 games of fun and excitement! We feel that is just the right amount. It is long enough to sustain a nice rewarding league, but short enough so that you are not tied down for months and months. It's also short enough so that it allows us to have multiple seasons if we so wish.

Rules and Regulations

REGULAR SEASON

The divisions will be setup as so: The AL will be broken up into two divisions and the NL will be broken up into two divisions. Each team in the AL will play each other twice and each team in the NL will play each other twice. That makes a total of 18 games. The remaining two games of the season will be interleague games that are scheduled.

PLAYOFFS

The top two teams in each division will make the playoffs. The best overall record in the AL will play the worst overall record in the AL reguardless of what division each team is in. The same holds true for the NL. The first round series will follow traditional MLB rules and be a best 3 out of 5 series. The first two games of each series will be held in the home of the division winner and the next two will be held at the home of the wild-cards. The final game of the series if necessary will be held at the home of the division winners.

The ALCS and NLCS will be a best 4 out of 7 series. Just like the real MLB, the first two games of the series will be held at the home of the team with the best record while the next three will be held at the home of the opposing team. The final two games will be held at the home of the team with the better regular season record.

WORLD SERIES

Finally, the winner of the AL will be the winner of the NL in a best 4 out of 7 series with the same rules applying as in the league championship series. The team with the better record will hold home field advantage. Finally, we will crown the inaugural League of Elite World Series Champion!! All of MVPMods.com will know you truly are a King among kings!

PITCHING

In this league, you need to use a three man rotation when pitching. This means each pitcher gets roughly six start. Same holds true for the playoffs. Absolutely, NO CHANGING ROTATION once you select it. Email us your rotations ASAP!! There is no rule on using relief pitchers. Use them at your own discretion. However, you may not, and I repeat MAY NOT, use starters in relief roles. Anyone who does will be subject to termination from the league. If you have any questions concerning this, make sure to ask them.

When pitching, it is obvious that not every single pitch can be a strike. However, to enhance the fun and entertainment value of the league, everything needs to be roughly around the strike zone unless they are mistake pitches. This is a very vague rule however. This rule was input to avoid having players throw every pitch in the dirt or every pitch at the eyes. Throw a lot of strikes and balls around the strike zone. If you are truly a good pitcher you will know how to pitch without throwing balls all over the place. You can mix up pitches and speeds to fool batters, and keep them off balance, without throwing balls every other pitch. I promise you this will make the league more enjoyable.

HITTING

There really isn't any rules when it comes to hitting. Do your thing at the plate. However, we ask you to abide by certain rules. Avoid hit and runs every single time you have a man on base. Pick your spots wisely. We advise you not to hit and run more than three times a game successful or not. If we discover a player hitting and running in a way that exploits the game, they will be warned. If it continues, your spot in the league will be given to someone else.

At no point, and I repeat no point, should you ever suicide squeeze with less than two outs. This is an obvious exploit of the game and is an easy run if a strike is thrown. However, with two outs you are free to squeeze all you want since the inning can be ended by throwing the runner out at first. Besides these minor rules, hitting is pretty self-explanatory.

SETTINGS

Everyone needs to have the same settings to have a successful season. First of all, everyone needs to have the MVP 06 mod. Also, everyone needs to have the Hamachi program. I'm pretty sure everyone already has this stuff. You also need to have the Ultimate Rosters 8.0. If there is anything in this roster you want to update for your team, you need to run it by me or XCRunner and we will either deny it or approve it. However, when you connect for a game, you MUST click NO when asked to load a custom roster. The last thing we need is someone loading a roster with players all rated 90.

Most importantly, you need MD's 3.1 Datafile. This ensures that the game will run smooth and each player will see the same things on their screens. DRAG THE ENTIRE DATAFILE EXTRACTION INTO YOUR MVP2005/DATA folder. We tried it the other way and IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!! That is all you need to do and you're set!!

I think everyone knows how to connect through IP. If you don't, email me!

Here are the settings for games: Strike Zone: OFF

Hot/Cold: OFF

Hitters Eye: OFF

And after LONGGGGG Debate- Pitch Cursor: Fade (Pitchers can aim their pitches in real life, so we can too. This will not lead to too many strikes. It will actually eliminate too many strikes since you can hit the corners more. However, if you miss, be careful. I normally would say to turn this off. But then your control is limited. In real life, pitchers aim where they want to throw, so we will be able to aim too. If you disagree with this, email us. Or if you wish to play without it against your opponent, let us know!)

Please use the Box Score Extractor is possible to send stats to this email address. If you cannot figure it out, at the very least send us the winning and losing pitcher and the batters with the best hitting stats. But please try and use the Box Score Extractor. Search it in the download section of MVPMods.com

Everyone post your emails immediately in this thread so I can send you your schedule!!!!!!

SCHEDULE/SCHEDULING

You need to email the person you are playing to schedule games. It might benefit you to play both games of a series at one time to make scheduling easier. Whatever you want to do, just make sure you get the games in!!! You need to play your first series before your next series and so on. You cannot play games out of order. Also, injuries do not carry on. At first we were thinking they would, but it is too hard to keep up with.

Schedule is as follows: (If game is 1:05 it must be played in the day, if 7:05 or later, must be played at night. All games are scheduled in EST. All ALCS/NLCS/World Series games must be played at night. Division series games will be scheduled accordingly.)

Only one person has to do the box score extractor at the end of the game...here is how you do it...

1. Quit the Game

2. Once you get back to the main network page, minimize your game

3. Run Box Score Extractor

4. Press "h" once it opens

5. Press "x" for an exhibition game

6. Name it "BLAH @ BLAH"...of course blah being the teams involved

7. Press Enter to Save

That's it!

Yes everyone has got the emails. For some reason it kept sending me back your email. I will send you info now!

The reason we won't have a website is because that actually makes things more complicated. Having to design and update a website is what makes most leagues go under....We feel by doing it this way we will keep it alive! This thread will not be used to keep track of the league. The league will be kept track of through constant emails.

Updates for MVPmods users interested in following the league will be posted here!

ATTENTION...THERE IS A CHANGE TO PITCHING ROTATIONS

YOU MAY NOW HAVE A FOUR MAN ROTATION...IT WILL EVEN OUT THE NUMBER OF STARTS PER PITCHER

This will even the amount of starts for each pitcher. It will now be five starts for each pitcher, hence the 20 game schedule. Basic math. This will help balance out starts and make it easier to pick a Cy Young at the end of the season when there are pitchers with even amounts of starts.
