UltraMegaOK1988
I asked about this twice here... http://mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=25391.html ...but didn't get any responses, so hopefully this will get a better result. I installed the latest UR here at MVPMods. Everything works except that the pitching area is extremely small and it is almost impossible to throw an accurate pitch even starting out a game at 100% stamina. I've fiddled with the sliders but they don't do much. I used to see a green area on the pitching meter, but now that I installed the latest UR, there is only a small yellow sliver. Any way I can change this?

spitoon
Are you able to edit the datafile? If so increase '34 accuracywidth' to .120 to get back to the stock setting.

UltraMegaOK1988
Thank you for the replies, 2much and spitoon. However, I couldn't find anything in the downloads, and when I opened the datafile, it was nothing but a bunch of weird characters and boxes (I opened it in Notepad if that makes a difference). MagicHands8686
You need to download a datafile with the default pitching meter. You’re not going to get a lot of helpful responses because this question has already been asked to death. Try running a search you will find plenty of information on this topic. DJEagles
Pull the datafile off your original installation disc.
UltraMegaOK1988
Pull the datafile off your original installation disc. Two questions: 1. Does this mean I have to uninstall, or can I just put the disc in and take it without installing? 2. Will replacing my current datafile with the one off of the installation disc alter anything else besides the pitching meter? Thanks again for the help. Yes Use the search function I pulled this down in less then a minute. http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=24839.html http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=24028.html http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=23315.html http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=21476.html
spitoon
Editing the datafile involves uncompressing it, editing it, then re-compressing it. That's why you saw "a bunch of weird characters and boxes", it wasn't uncompressed. There are utilities here that will do the uncompression/re-compression for you, they are in the downloads section. Again, you need some skills, albeit minor ones, to edit the datafile yourself...since I don't know you, I can't comment on whether or not you possess those skills. The problem with replacing the datafile from your CD is that the cd doesn't contain a datafile.txt, which is what we are talking about here. You still have the 'stock' datafile on your computer, but it is being ignored due to the presence of the datafile.txt that you downloaded. You could easily go back to the 'stock' settings by deleting the datafile.txt found in your /data folder. This will cause the game to revert to the datafile that's found (compressed) within datafile.big, which is in the /data/datafile folder. I hope that makes sense to you. Anyways, the only way to change the pitch meter and keep everything else exactly the same, would be to edit the datafile.

I searched the downloads section for it and couldn't find it. "Uncompressor, "Decompressor," and "Compressor" yield no results. Perhaps one of the more knowledgeable people here could link me to it? One of the threads linked to by MagicHands had the values I should change, and I'll copy them here in case anyone else is having the same problems as me: To adjust pitch meter size of Brown & Green.... 0x739c0a96 233<batterpitcher> 34 accuracywidth 0.120 40 linespeed 0.750 50 badaccuracywidth 0.15 141 perfectaccuracygreen 255 143 Perfectaccuracyalpha 255 144 perfectaccuracysize 0.25 152 accuracygreen 255 I have adapted somewhat to the smaller pitching area, but I still throw a meatball two out of every three pitches.
