How to use a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB in the game PROPERLY????

My Eliminator Aftershock has been working like s*** lately and I'd like to use my Gamepad Pro USB before I get a chance to get the Saitek P880.

I used the "radio shack" method of changing the controller's name in the regisrty to Microsoft Sidewinder, and likewise in the "controllerconfig" file, but I'm still having a huge problem with this.

....since the controller uses a D-pad instead of an analog, I can't aim the pitch to stay inside the strikezone. When I move the pitcher location marker, the pitch is aimed outside the strikezone like this:

is the ANYTHING I can do to fix this so the pitch marker stays INSIDE the zone??
