TwentySeven
My top 3 in order of underration: Travis Hafner, Erik Bedard, Matt Holliday. Oh, and before I forget again, Jorge Posada with honorable mention. He's been one of the top three-four catchers his whole career, and is still doing it. kaplerisking
Ivan Rodriguez. Everyone seems to have forgotten that the guy exists, but he's still a great catcher. Who knows where that extremely young Tigers rotation would be without him?
krawhitham
Travis Hafner. Best offensive player in the AL. I would not go that far, he is a very good clutch hitter with 77 RBI from HRs in his other 512 PA he only averaged 0.078125 RBI per PA Justin Morneau had 0.1113 RBI per PA (after HRs removed)

Offense includes home runs, and so that would make him much more valuable then Morneau offensively, wouldn't it. Hafner had the highest OPS in baseball for the second year running, granted that OPS vastly overrates .SLG, however, he walks enough to justify it. ronmexico
Ivan Rodriguez. Everyone seems to have forgotten that the guy exists, but he's still a great catcher. Who knows where that extremely young Tigers rotation would be without him? I think people have forgotten about Pudge, because he has not been as good as he used to. He was amazing, a catcher of revolutionary status, with Piazza, in terms of offense, and amazing on the defensive end. His stats are not what they used to be...http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=2523 I mean, it's hard for a catcher to hit like this. In 1999 .332/35 HR/113 RBI/25SB/and had 199 hits that year, along with winning the Gold Glove.

TwentySeven
David Eckstein He's overrated IMO. He has absolutely no power, he's above average defensively AT BEST, he's not that fast, he doesn't take a lot of walks, and I just don't see how he can be underrated. A mediocre player at best. Not true. As a Mets fan I know how much of a pain in the *** Eckstein is. Which is why I hate his guts. I wish he was on my team playin 2nd. A mediocre player at best.he's not really underrated anymore - he's about where he should be. He has (hardly) no power, but he is underrated defensively, and you didn't mention his batting average: .283 career, and he batted .292 and .294 the last two years respectively. He only had 12 win shares this year, but then he only had 500 at-bats. however, here's a startling statistic: he had 28 win shares in '05, which is not only above average, but extremely impressive considering he only had 8 homers and 61 RBIs. he does what a lead-off hitter is supposed to do, and he's also clutch. So i don't think he's overrated.

So i don't think he's overrated. Batting average is worthless. One of the five stupidest stats around. The lead-off hitter is supposed to either get on base or have speed. His career high in OBP is .363 twice. In comparison, Vladimir Guerrero, a player with a career reputation for being a 'free swinger' has a career OBP of .390 and a career high of .426. Alfonso Soriano, another free swinger has a career high of .351. In SB, Eckstein has had 29 once, and since then his stolen base total has gone down every year. In fact, over the last two years, he has had 18 stolen bases and 14 attempts caught stealing. Fielding wise, I never said he was anything worse then below average, however at best, he has above average, nothing excellent.

Yeah the fact he is almost twice as likely to drive in a run if he does not hit a HR means nothing

D-Unit
Wang is no longer underrated. He was underrated when he was in the back end of the rotation, but then again no one expected 19 wins.

Harsh
The Blue Jays Everyone will say the the Red Sox screwed up by finishing 3rd, but no one will say the Blue Jays played well enough to finish 2nd.
