These are the 1972-74 unis:

...I also have the 1971s done - they're more or less the same thing, but they have a traditional (albeit orange) belt, button-front jerseys and no trim on the collars or sleeves.

Never seen them before in my entire life. Looks great. I even own that hat from lids.com. I thought it was just made up.
You must be younger than I thought...or I'm just an old fart.

Finally got back to this, here's 1975 & 1976, with the oddball "circus" font - the closest I could come up with is the same font the early 70's Braves used, but it certainly does the job:

Note the white circle, which only appeared on the 1975 set...the "40" Don Wilson memorial patch is supposed to be in the white space above the stripes, but the fatty sleeve thing messes that up:

In 1976, the circle and "40" patch were removed, but the National League Centennial patch was worn:

...should be more to come.

can someone make a present day uniform based on this? tired of ASTROS being themed around TRAINS

Here's a bit more - this will (eventually) cover the rest of the rainbow-era jerseys, both home & road, as they were all quite similar. I tell you, getting those shoulder stripes to extend onto the jersey back (JERK) was some fun!

Oh, and AstroEric, getting the stripes lined up took a while, but here's what I wound up with...

Here's how the jersey fronts & backs look, FYI:

The stripes actually have to be shifted slightly on the SLVL & SLVR, as well:

...ain't it great?

Dude, these are simply phenomenal. I have to tell you, although it is hard to admit it, the Astros (and Braves) have always been my favorite teams behind my home-town Cardinals. And those 94-99 jerseys are the one's I grew up paying the most attention to. It is AWESOME to see them reproduced so well.

This is really great work.

But I still hate Lance Berkman. lol.

I think bigbully made some mid-90s Astros uniforms a while back too but the more classic uniforms made the better I say!
