jp_hidalgo
Hi you all. I noticed that diferent stadiums allow diferent fastballs speed (which of course is great), but I want to know which is the variation and what it depends on. By the way, in mvpedit when I put fastball speed = 95 my pitcher is throwing between 95mph and 99mph, but if I put 89 the guy will throw between 88mph and 92mph... is there any kind of statment with this? Tips and help required. Thanks!!!
DustinTheWin
as far as i know, the rockies stadium is the only stadium with different speeds because of the thin air
kgbaseball
Usually, whatever you have in MVPEdit will be around 2mph faster in the game. It's not always like that; as you said, it ranges, and can be anywhere from 2-4mph more or less than the number in MVPEdit. I feel that it's really realistic and love that it happens. sfgiantsflgators
Isn't there also something built in where it will randomly change? Kind of mimicing instances in "real-life" where a pitcher has days where he's dead on and days where he's off?
MarkB
There's the variable stuff option, yes, but I've had that turned off since I got the game and my pitchers still reach up to 2mph above their rated speeds in MVPEdit. Been meaning to bring this up for a while, actually. How hard your pitcher throws seems to depend on the stadium and wind speed in-game. As a reference, if a guy tops out at 92mph, I'll usually set his fastball speed in MVPEdit to 90 or 91. That was, he'l reach 92 on a good day when everything's in his favour (stadium, wind speed and good stuff) but will sit at 90-91.
SwinginSoriano
In MVP 2004 a pitcher definately went 1-3 mph above his intended speed, in 2005 it seems as if CPU's 4seams will slow as changeups speed up. Also, the velocities of pitches may have minor random changes between starts. Setting pitchers' speed at their average speed seemed to yield to slow of fastballs, so I typically pick speeds close to (or at for relievers) the top out speed. kgbaseball
I've also found that minor leaguers tend to vary more than major leaguers, and tend to have pitch speeds slower than their value in MVPEdit.
jp_hidalgo
woooow And how can I do to create a pitcher who never reach 103mph but yes 101?
SwinginSoriano
If you set a guy at 100, he may reach 101, but you can edit the attrib.dat file to change a guy's speed to 101 (it also increases his rating) and import this change right into MVPedit.
