Owner Mode Crashes When Clicking Save

I've searched the Forums and can not seem to find one solid answer to the problem. Pre-empting the automatic response from members that sit back and wait to scream for a search. Yes, I have searched through these forums, off an on for about 5 hours now. There appear to be very diferent responses depending on scenario, yet neither is clear on either end.

What works so far:

1. Installed Game

2. Installed patch #2

3. Mounted CD-Image. (WHY?) Because I like my CD's to last for a couple years. (pre-empting questioning of motives)

When it has failed. Mind you, I didn't test each step of the way, since my first 6 installs always included updating the rosters and patching. Only when I didn't update the rosters, and only applied patch #2 did the game let me save an Owner Mode.

1. Installed Patch #3 and #5 as instructed by Ultimate Rosters.

2. Copied data files (for Ultimate Rosters) to directory specified, overwriting old files.

3. Tested. Failed. Crashed to Desktop when clicking on save. This problem did not repeat itself in Dynasty Mode.

Some background. I used to play this game with the same configuration I recently attempted with one diference. UR 7.** rather than the latest current release. I never had a problem playing the game at that time. This leads me to assume that the problem is in the latest UR release.

I am no expert, and I was hoping to find some answers here. Yet it appears, members are completely content to tell you to search, rather than taking that same amount of time to help out. This is shameful. Whenever I have information that could help someone out, I never with hold it. NEVER.

A final completely off-topic thought. "There is NO freestylin in the ball pool!" NOT COOL."

Thank you for the information. Although, I have tried that, and it does not repair the problem. Let me add some information to this thread though as I have learned some new information.

I installed Patch #3, and tested, game allowed me to save owner mode. Then I installed Patch #5, and the game Crashed to Desktop when trying to save. I've tried the suggestions in the link above, but the problem has not changed.

*on edit* Correction, it appears I was indeed mistaken, and apparently missed one of the managers. It wasn't until I changed my notepad font to size 8 that I noticed where I missed. This worked and fixed my problem for patch #5. It let me get to the option to save Owner mode.

Now I will continue on with the installation of Ultimate Rosters 8 and see if this problem reappears.

Having installed Ultimate Rosters 8 standard, the game reverted to the problem it previously had with Patch #5. So I decided to see if the problem was fixed the same way. Went into manager.dat, and changed the 0's to 1's in column 19 as suggested for patch #5. Problem solved. So far.

Now mind you, I don't know if this corrects any in season problems like, when quitting after a game, having it crash and what not, but that will have to wait and see if that even happens.
