Some Jays injury updates:

- 3B Troy Glaus (heel/hamstring) will likely be activated Friday from the 15-day DL

- C Gregg Zaun (broken thumb) was placed on the DL retroactive to yesterday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks

- OF Reed Johnson (back) won't be back before the all-star break

- RP B.J. Ryan (elbow) won't be before the all-star break either

- RP Brandon League (lat/shoulder) may miss the rest of the season

- SP John Thomson (shoulder) is currently in rehab in A-Ball and will probably make another start before the team decides what to do with him

Carl Pavano will likely be having Tommy John surgery, will miss all of '07 and likely 1-2 months of '08.

Jaret Wright will be out for the season, I'm too lazy to look up what it is. Sorry :p.

How long will the injury be?

I'll throw Carl Pavano on the list finally, since the Yankees blew the wad for him they probably know the writing's on the wall for the 'jewel of the 2005 free agent market'.

Updated Jays injuries...

TOR Blue Jays:

Reed Johnson (TOR) Out until ASB (back surgery)

Greg Zaun (TOR): Out for two months (broken thumb)

B.J. Ryan (TOR): Out until ASB (forearm?)

Brandon League (TOR): Out for season (Lateral muscle)

Davis Romero (TOR) out for season (torn labrum)

TOR Blue Jays:

Davis Romero (TOR) out for season (torn labrum)

Ryan Patterson (TOR) two months (broken arm)

John Thomson (TOR) out at least first two weeks (shoulder)

1. B.J. Ryan's injury is elbow not forearm and he will be out until at least mid June since he was placed on the DL in mid April

2. Romero shouldn't be on both lists

3. Patterson is back in AA now and is healed

4. Thomson is rehabbing in AAA and seems healthy now

5. League is not officially announced as being out for the season but will be if he opts for surgery

Is there any particular reason Chris Carpenter (STL) is not on the list? He was supposedly injured in the season opener, but it's likely the injury was there before hand - and he's already missed all of April and they say he'll be out 3 more months with the surgery required to remove bone spurs from his throwing elbow.

Really, this should probably be put on the "Opening Day" list, meaning the season should start with him on the DL. 4 months would be injury time.

So the list for STL would be:

Mark Mulder (4 months, shoulder surgery)

Chris Carpenter (4 months, elbow surgery)

Josh Kinney (whole season, elbow surgery)

Juan Encarnacion (1 month, wrist surgery)*

*Juan may not be back to MLB yet in "real life" - but he's back and playing in the minors, so the actual INJURY time was about 1 month.
