KronicJaY
Basically I am just writing this post because I want this to be as easy for everyone as possible and I wish that someone had wrote this thing months ago for me. So let me start at the beginning. When i first tried mvp baseball it was 2003 and I was using my Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog 2 gamepad and it worked fine. Then when MVP Baseball 2004 came out I tried using the gamepad and it would not work at all, after days of searching the internet I stumbled across the registry hack to fix the gamepad issue, So i did that and then i had to remap a view buttons but i was able to play the game with a gamepad cuz there was no way in hell i could win with this damn keyboard. After playing for awhile I realized that with the analog stick my players would not run at full speed when fielding, this was very very frustating. I've tried many things to correct this, updating drivers, recalibration, you name it I've tried it and it would not fix it, my players would still not run at full speed. So one day later in my dynasty (playing with this problem) I lost a game that i should have won cuz my guys couldn't track down an easy fly ball so i just got right pissed off and smash my gamepad on my desk, on my wall and then finally on the floor. It smashed to pieces i was so f###in pissed off. So a week rolls by and I decided to get that logitech wingman rumblepad off ebay cuz ea recommended it for the game. What a mistake that was after I played around with the gamepad for awhile i realized it was a pile of **** and i had that damn calibration error so two days ago i was reading up on that psx to usb adapter and guess what it works f###in amazingly and i recommend it to everyone. It cost me $15.99 Canadain at Radio Shack (psx to usb adapter) and I just used my Psone controller that was collecting dust in my closet (or you could go to futureshop and buy one for $10 Canadian), it also works with PS2 controllers But they cost too damn much. So when i brought home the psx to usb adapter all i did was plug it in, plug in the PSone controller to the adapter and then installed the drivers from the cd that is provided. Then I calibrated the controller, then instead of editing the registry i just edited the controller.cfg file with notepad to say this profile= PS TO USB CONVERTOR device= PS TO USB CONVERTOR player= 1 number_of_buttons= 12 number_of_povs= 1 number_of_axis= 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_START= button 9 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SELECT= button 10 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CROSS= button 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CRICLE= button 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SQUARE= button 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_TRIANGLE= button 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L1= button 7 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R1= button 8 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L2= button 5 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R2= button 6 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L3= button 11 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R3= button 12 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_UP= pov0 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_DOWN= pov180 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_LEFT= pov270 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_RIGHT= pov90 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_UP= axis+ 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_DOWN= axis- 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_UP= axis+ 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_DOWN= axis- 4 VPAD_PITCH_1= button 3 VPAD_PITCH_2= button 2 VPAD_PITCH_3= button 4 VPAD_PITCH_4= button 1 VPAD_PITCH_5= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_FIRST= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_SECOND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_THIRD= button 4 VPAD_PITCH_OUT= button 3 VPAD_DEFENSIVE_ALIGNMENT_OPEN= button 6 VPAD_THROW_BALL= not_assigned -1 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_WALK= button 12 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_HITBATTER= button 11 VPAD_PITCH_HISTORY_OPEN= key sc_space VPAD_SWING_NORMAL= button 3 VPAD_SWING_BUNT= button 4 VPAD_CHARGE_MOUND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_FIRST= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_SECOND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_THIRD= button 4 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_HOME= button 3 VPAD_FIELD_SWITCH= button 7 VPAD_FIELD_CUTOFF_THROW= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_FAKE_RUNDOWN_THROW= button 8 VPAD_RUNNER_FIRST_SELECT= button 2 VPAD_RUNNER_SECOND_SELECT= button 1 VPAD_RUNNER_THIRD_SELECT= button 4 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNFIRST= pov90 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNSECOND= pov0 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNTHIRD= pov270 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNHOME2SCORE= pov180 1 VPAD_BASERUNNER_ADVANCEALL= button 7 VPAD_BASERUNNER_RETREATALL= button 8 VPAD_RUNNER_STOP_SELECTED= button 5 VPAD_RUNNER_STOP_ALL= button 6 then saved it and the PSone controller works perfect and i'll never have to smash a controller off the wall again. the only slightest problem i have with it is that i can't navigate through the menus with the controller still have to use the mouse for that , but thats not a problem cuz i had to do that with my thrustmaster anyways.. hopes this helps you guys out who are getting frustrated out there. feel free to post questions or comments about this post. p.s sorry for such a long post but somebody had to do it
Pared
Actually, if you want it set up EXACTLY like the PS2 game, you have to use this: VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_START= button 10 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SELECT= button 9 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CROSS= button 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CRICLE= button 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SQUARE= button 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_TRIANGLE= button 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L1= button 5 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R1= button 6 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L2= button 7 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R2= button 8 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L3= button 11 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R3= button 12 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_UP= pov0 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_DOWN= pov180 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_LEFT= pov270 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_RIGHT= pov90 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_UP= axis+ 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_DOWN= axis- 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_UP= axis+ 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_DOWN= axis- 3 VPAD_PITCH_1= button 3 VPAD_PITCH_2= button 2 VPAD_PITCH_3= button 4 VPAD_PITCH_4= button 1 VPAD_PITCH_5= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_FIRST= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_SECOND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_THIRD= button 4 VPAD_PITCH_OUT= button 3 VPAD_DEFENSIVE_ALIGNMENT_OPEN= button 6 VPAD_THROW_BALL= not_assigned -1 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_WALK= button 12 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_HITBATTER= button 11 VPAD_PITCH_HISTORY_OPEN= button 11 VPAD_SWING_NORMAL= button 3 VPAD_SWING_BUNT= button 12 VPAD_CHARGE_MOUND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_FIRST= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_SECOND= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_THIRD= button 4 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_HOME= button 3 VPAD_FIELD_SWITCH= button 7 VPAD_FIELD_CUTOFF_THROW= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_FAKE_RUNDOWN_THROW= button 8 VPAD_RUNNER_FIRST_SELECT= button 2 VPAD_RUNNER_SECOND_SELECT= button 1 VPAD_RUNNER_THIRD_SELECT= button 4 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNFIRST= pov90 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNSECOND= pov0 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNTHIRD= pov270 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNHOME2SCORE= pov180 1 VPAD_BASERUNNER_ADVANCEALL= button 7 VPAD_BASERUNNER_RETREATALL= button 8 VPAD_RUNNER_STOP_SELECTED= button 5 VPAD_RUNNER_STOP_ALL= button 6 ;)

Pared
I'm using a Dual Shock 2. There isn't any difference b/w that and a Dual Shock 1. So if your PSOne controller has analog sticks, yup, it's no different. If it does NOT have analog sticks, then yeah... well... um... get one that does!
baseballfans
PS2 controller allow vibration And if U use the Radio Shack psx plugin U have to use their driver to make it work. MVP 2004 U feel that shaking when Ones pitches. In some games vibration bring your gaming experiences to a diffrent level but for baseball I guess U can live without it.
