oxbay
Yeah, the goal this year is around 25m, last year it was ~17m. The problem is, that doesn't include minor league contracts, but in MVP it does include minor league contracts. So since the minor league minimum is 100k in real life I believe (Someone correct me if I'm wrong), 75 players on three teams (25 man rosters), that's 7,500,000 salary in minor league system. Then add that onto 25m, so you'd want a 32.5m payroll (+ some hundred K if you wanted, since not all minors make minimum). First, thanks and that is what I was calculating on my own. Second, I believe the minor league minimum is less. Check out this article dated 10-25-2006 (New Collective Bargaining Agreement). I believe the pertinent parts for our discussion is the following: Minimum salary • Major League minimum salary will increase to $380,000 in 2007, $390,000 in 2008, $400,000 in 2009 and to a cost-of-living increase in 2011. • Minor League minimum salary will increase to $60,000 in 2007, $62,500 in 2008 and $65,000 in 2009. But I think the game only allows a minimum of $100,000 in the minors so that is what we have to work with.

Sanchez (3-0) - 6IP, 4H, 3K (0.41 ERA) Breakdown: Florida: Tankersley had a rough outing today as he allowed two solo homeruns in his two innings of relief. Sitting at his locker after the game, it was clearly visible that he was disgusted with his performance. The only comment he had for a reporter was, "Everyone has a bad day and today was mine. Now leave me the **** alone!" On a positive note, Mike Jacobs went 2-for-4 and increased his average to .237. Houston: The struggling Astros dropped another today. There are some rumors that there are some internal problems in the clubhouse relating to the offensive production of the team. When Garner was asked about the production, he stated that there were no problems within the clubhouse, and that "he and Berry are working on some things to get the players on a more consistent level." Next Game: New York Mets (10-4) at Florida Marlins (10-4)

oxbay
BREAKING NEWS: In the bottom of the 8th inning, Mike Jacobs suffered a torn PCL while running out a double. He is out for the remainder of the season (226 Days). To fill the void at first base, the Florida Marlins have signed free agent Carlos Pena to a 1 year deal worth $400,000. xiberger
Ouch, tough luck for Jacobs! Suffering an injury like that early in the season is the worst thing that can happen. However, I think you made a good move by signing Pena. He's a solid player, in both offense and defense.
oxbay
Yeah, it is unfortunate to lose a guy of that potential. I think Pena can fill in nicely as a 1 year rental at only $400,000. If things work out, I might re-sign him as a bat off the bench.
