How do people play the game?

I just d/l the 2006 mod and some add ons and it is a totally different game now. WOW. Thanks to all who have put the time and sweat into the project.

My question is this: do most people play the game (control all action on the field) or do most manage the game (Let the computer control all aspects of the play on the field) Does the sliders and mods geared for a particular playing preference that I described above or both can be used?

Thanks,

Scott

I pretty much sim most of the games when I play as the Giants; however, I play the big games like versus the dodgers, padres, redsox, playoffs, etc. I am currently in 2020 dynasty, but I do have others...

as in how i play the game like as managing and playing a team. I am more of a running manager. My team needs speed and average contact hitters. No real power threats after Bonds left me, so i had to seek an alternative way to score some runs.

I play all classic teams-'61, '67, and TC-I play the dynasties from start to finish. Sometimes I skip the playoffs. I have played over 900 dynasty games of classic teams. You could might say I like this game.

I like 112155 only play with the Classic Mods.

However, unlike 112155 and probably most other players I imagine, I don't have a joy stick attached to my system (since I wouldn't even know how to use it for this game).

I play solely CPU vs CPU games. I run a 54 game season and randomly select the Team I control. For that controlled Team I play each game each day and play 2 other games random games per day on the schedule (Thanks to tywiggins which his team switcher mod make this setup possible).

I seem to see new things almost every game and in total I have probably watched/played over 1500 games or so since 2004.

Yes, Slider settings certainly impact the realism of this game. I imagine rosters are built according to the builders preference of how they play the game but with the use of Sliders a games realism/personal enjoyment can be adjusted to your liking to a great degree.

I play with updated rosters or fantasy draft rosters. Because of limited hardware on my end, fielding is very challenging for me, so I allow the computer to do the fielding, though I do everything else - hitting, baserunning, throws.

Generally I play half the games and sim the other half - the simmed games are largely games against certain pitchers with particularily slow deliveries, though often I find myself in the middle of a game with a pressing need to quit, so I will sim the end of the game.

Occasionally, I like to watch games. Since the baseball season is over, I feel like occasionally it can be fun to sit back and "watch" a game. I just let the game play CPU vs. CPU, and I use edited settings so that it is more realistic, like watching a game on TV. For example, I use camera six - the camera where you are watching from behind the pitchers mound, because that is a realistic view; in addition, I turn off things like strike zone and "hot zones" and those such view settings.

I play most of the games if I am playing dynasty mode. Of course I sim games that I know my team will win (unfair), but the game does tend to sim correctly if you are playing the right team. I do miss MVP BBall where you could have the best team lose to the worst team like 21-4. That did keep it fair in sim mode.

However, I have played owners mode without ever playing a game trying from base zero to build my stadium, team, and all sales. Basically building a team moneywise and budgeting. This is only interesting if you start with Kansas C or P'burg though. If you do this with the Mets or Yanks, you end up with 2 billion dollars and lots of unsold hotdogs.
