Moneyunits in Payroll

What's the deal with units in the payroll? Why use this cryptic increment of 100 and so on? Why not just give a person $70 million and let him or her figure out where to spend it?

Is there anywhere that has it figured out what the increments are equal to in $$?

The MLBPA won't allow the use of real $'s...I think they are actually a little embarassed about how much players make and don't really want to push it in the public's face, if you know what I mean.

I think lincarnate is correct, it's about $3000 per point...

Holy Green beans Batman!

I'm paying my nearly 40 yr. old closer about 14.7 mill a year! No damn wonder I don't have any money left over!

Do any of you guys try to limit how many big money players you keep on payroll? I've got about 5 of them that are over 4,000 a year. On a 32,000 a year budget that doesn't really leave much to go elsewhere. Anyways, I was just curious to see anyone has a set number of players that they'll commit a big hunk of money to. Thanks in advance!
