tejdog1
Whenever I edit the progress.big file, it causes the game to crash. Here is what I do: 1. Obviously backup the original (not that stupid ) 2. Change the extension to .txt (to open it in Notepad) 3. Scroll down to the salary portion, and reduce each of the salaries (ex: 19 year old 5 star rated prospect reduced from 433.33 to 333.33) 4. Rechange extension 5. Place it in the database folder 6. Start game And the game always crashes. Any help?
Totte
I don't think it likes the way you change the format into a txt-file. Have you downloaded the contract breakdown file I've made that's in the download section?
tejdog1
No, I looked for some help in the downloads section, and couldn't find any. Can you point me in the right direction? O/T: Did you get my email? Edit: I see you did. Edit II: Found the file by looking at your profile. Lets see if stupid (me) can figure something out you can't (yeah, right). ronmexico
I recommend from a long history of modding this file, open the csv files, either with wordpad (if you wanna go the txt way) or whats more comfortable, open it with Excel. Make sure you don't change anything else, because the way it is encoded, it will not be saved as a csv styled file if you do the change to txt method. You can go take the originals off your disc or download mine already modded ones.
tejdog1
How would I open the csv file, as I gather it's embedded in the progress.big file, right? Edit: No hurries answering, as it's...3:32am here, and I am overdue for a date with my pillow.
ronmexico
You use eagraph to open the progress.big file and extract the csv file you wanna work with. Then you edit it as mentioned above, and then import it. How did you edit the progress.big file before, considering you said that Whenever I edit the progress.big file, it causes the game to crash. tejdog1
I changed the file extension from .big to .txt, opened it in Notepad, edited it, and then changed the extension back to .big
ronmexico
Ooo, thats all wrong...lol. That will indeed crash the game, cause you probably ruined something that you didn't even notice in the process. Try it the way I said to above. Eagraph...open up, extract, work with file, import back in.
tejdog1
Where would I find EAgraph?
ronmexico
http://www.nba-live.com/eagraph/index.php I don't mean any offense to you, but I have a question for pretty much everyone on the site. Does no one ever try googling when someone says "download this"? This happened to be the 1st google result, and I just get mad when people say where can I find it, without trying to find it. Google is just like god, it has all the answers, only a helluva whole lot faster.
tejdog1
I googled it, and that was the first result. But it was about the NBA, not MLB. Didn't know it was universal.
ronmexico
O, I'm sorry to go off like that, but yes, it's the same program. It's for all easports games, it wasn't really directed at you, just this question has been posed probably thousands of times on this site, and a lot of the times it was probably unnecessary. tejdog1
Google is my best friend. It's giving me the following error: "The file you have selected has an unknown format. Do you wish to view this file as Hexadecimal?" I can't read hexadecimals (I took a class where I learned basic Hex in high school, but haven't used it since, so I've forgotten). ronmexico
OK, when you get that message, click no, and then look above for the export button. Export it to your desktop or w/e and work with the file there, open it up with Excel or w/e you plan to use.
compmaniac
I googled it, and that was the first result. But it was about the NBA, not MLB. Didn't know it was universal. Almost all the EA mod-tools out there are universal...including those for like MVP Baseball 2003 or NHL or something...
tejdog1
LOL. You know that guy in your avatar was on 1 vs 100 yesterday.
tejdog1
GOT IT! I'll see what I can do about the contracts. Edit: Thanks for all your help, everyone Totte, well, you know you rock. The rest of you in this thread, you rock as well :) :)
tejdog1
Quick question: Does contract.csv also control the maximum length of contracts? Because if it does, then I'll change that to 10 or 12, since those contracts are given out.
ronmexico
I believe that it cannot do that, I think that is coded into the game. I know you can raise the amount they can ask for, but I don't think it will allow you to raise it. Feel free to try it though, if you don't report back within a couple hours, I'll try. Good luck and god speed ;)

RaptorQuiz
Off topic... but tejdog... what happened to your avatar? I'm just getting the missing-graphic box.
ronmexico
LOL, I can give you one to work with if you want...I just don't have time to work on it tonight. I personally like mine cause of the progressions, cause even if theres too much talent in the game, atleast theres still talent in 15 years.
