AZS01
Hey, Im trying to install the game and when I get to disc 2, the installation stops at 72%. I have had the same disc before and it worked, so I looked beneat disc 2 and there are some scratches. A few pretty noticable. I get an error saying it couldn't read the disc (file: fenwnite). I recently bought a scratch repair kid (Memorex) and so far it hasn't worked. I keep doing it and doing it hoping the machine "rubs it down" far enough so the scratch isnt there anymore. It doesnt go past the foil at all, so Im confident the info is still there, but does anyone have any advice?
evil1182
Mix a little distilled water with some Isopropoyl alcohol, that's what some of those scratch cleaners use so when I ran out of it I made my own batch, works all the time.
AZS01
Also just tried copying all the files except fenwnite.big onto a disc but my computer doesnt recognize it during installation. Anything else?
evil1182
Try transferring it from a different drive or computer.
AZS01
Thats what I did...I used our PC (Im on a laptop now). After 53% I put in the one I copied to, and it think I have photos, not the 2nd disc of installation.

AZS01
Anyone else? Would it be considered a Data CD? Any other scratch fix solutions?
AZS01
Just a note - the scratch I believe is causing all of the problems is about as deep as a fingernale is thick. Also when viewed up close it looks like a squiggle, or like a mountain range viewed from the side. Any other ways I can make a copy and make my computer recognize it as part of the game? DJEagles
Look for a copy of Alcohol 120 online....I am not to familiar with copying cds, but you may be able to copy disc 2...perfectly legal if you are making a back-up copy.
AZS01
Ive got it...now what? I have ALL the files I need to put on disc two (and yes, it is a "backup" - I have the original, with code, but its scratched, probably beyond repair) I need to put ALL the files I have, for disc 2, into Alcohol 120, then burn it onto my CD. Thats where Im stuck. Is anyone familar with the program here? Thanks
evil1182
In Alcohol go to image burning and burn.
kgbaseball
You can get the full version of Alcohol 52% for free, rather than having the trial version of 120%, fyi.
AZS01
How do I use them though? (The Alcohol Progs) It cant read my scratched CD (presumably because its scratched) but it CAN read my unscratched CD with all the games files on it - but can it burn the files as a computer game???? DJEagles
If it cannot read your scratched game, then you are out of luck.
AZS01
No no, it reads my unscratched game - but they are just the files - they arent executable as a game. Is there anything that can convert just the files into a PC Game? I have ALL the files saved on to my computer - and on a disc, but the computer thinks the ones on the disc are photos, so I need something where I can either read/copy the CD as a PC Game or put the files into something where they are burned as a PC Game. AZS01
So basically what I need is something that can burn my files (I have all of them that are supposed to be on disc 2) onto a CD, so that they are recognized as being the game instead of Photos. DJEagles
I meant to say scratched game. It would seem that your disc 2 may be unrepairable. You may indeed be out of luck.
AZS01
I have all of the files for it on my PC---no way to transfer those files to a CD that works as Disc 2?
