PirateFan13
I am not a programmer in the least bit, but I would love to offer something to the MVP community here. I am very good with Excel and Access and have built player pages with tons of statistical categories including a Hall of Fame point system to determine if the player is statistically worthy of the HOF. I have the boxscore utility, but I wish that I could get the boxscores from all of the games... probably not possible. I also have the MVPSaveReader, is there anyone that can break down the stats in an easy format for me to dump into Excel or Access or even a program that does it automatically. The end product I can make pretty nice, its getting there that I cannot do. And is there anyone interested in keeping better track of your players and Teams? Just read the sav file? I don't think that should be that difficult...
PirateFan13
I understand that Comp, I want to be able to dump it into a database for considerable amounts of data manipulation.
compmaniac
I understand that Comp, I want to be able to dump it into a database for considerable amounts of data manipulation. Correct me if I'm wrong: This is what you want somebody to do, right? 1. Read the sav file of your choice. 2. Put it into a good format so that you can export it to Excel. If so, what format would you want it? And how would Excel read it?
PirateFan13
Two examples, 1. To be able to dump info into the Lahman Database, this database has a great amount of raw data anyway to which I can make some nice pages and reports, historical, or updated. If you play a dynasty long enough you could watch your players rise up the career charts. 2. To make player, team, year pages in Excel. I have an example that i could post later tonight. If all of this sounds stupid just let me know, maybe I am the only one who digs stats so much, with 0 programming skills. PirateFan13
UncleMo
Um, you know to keep track of your players' stats, there is the career stats button in MVP already?
HardcoreLegend
I wish this bleeping game kept split stats, ala month by month, home and away, lefty vs righty. Bah.

PirateFan13 Sorry, I don't know what the Lahman database is, and second, I'll wait for your Excel template... I wish this bleeping game kept split stats, ala month by month, home and away, lefty vs righty. Bah. Maybe that could be a mod idea, if it's possible... PirateFan13
UncleMo, MVP keeps such detailed career stats (when it works)... Its year to year stats are good, I don't understand why they don't just keep them in the career format. I do know about MVPs capabilities, thank you. Some people like overlays, gloves, faces, portraits, etc. I like stats. PirateFan13
UncleMo
Didn't mean to discourage you. Just trying to understand. Sorry.
