I have every game (all 162 plus, NLDS, NLCS and World Series) from the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals season recorded to DVD (done personally). Also in my collection, I have a bunch of All-Star Games, regular season games, a few opening day games, 1996 World Series games, etc. Converted to DVD, though, are the: 1968 World Series Game 7 1996 World Series Game 5 2002 NLDS Game 1 2005 NLDS Game 1 2005 NLCS Game

HardcoreLegend
For some reason, I thought 2006 was going to be a special season for the Cardinals and with having got the Extra Innings package, I wanted to record it for history. World Series games or special event games never really tell the story of how a player/team plays or compares to other teams in history. I'd love to see some regular season games from the 75 Reds, 67-68 Cardinals, ANYTHING Willie Mays, etc, but no one thought to record it. Now, no matter what MLB decides to do in the future, there is atleast 1 person out there than 20 years from now can say...."Hey, I've got a bunch of games from that crazy 2006 season." It was sometimes a hassle, but in general, after the game concluded, it took about 45 minutes of editing...I'd set it to convert over night (8 hours) and then I'd burn it before heading out in the morning for my day. The next day, the HDD would be all set for the next game.
Padres67
I just noticed something new on mlb's-baseball best. You can watch highlight reals for free. I'm currently watching the highlights of the '68 World Series. Others of note-Mazeroski homer, mays catch, ruth called shot.
Cash #25
Those highlight reels are darned entertaining, too. This afternoon (while I was supposed to be working), I watched Kirk Gibson's 1984 homer off Goose Gosssage, Dave Henderson's blast off Donnie Moore in the '86 ALCS, Ruth's called shot, and a number of others. Highly recommended. I also listened to game 5 of the 1968 WS in it's entirety while working. Joe Buck, why can't you call a game like your dad, Jack? stecropper
HarecoreLegend, Here's one I purchased just today from RareSportsFilms.com that you might be interested in: 1963 Willie Mays "A Man Named Mays" (Documentary on Mays' career through '63 made for TV.) HardcoreLegend
I've done some research over the last 48 hours: -MLB has in their possession complete broadcasts of the entire 1965, 1968 and 1969 World Series. -They also have 2 games from the 1952 World Series. They do not believe their is a market for them and have no intentions as of now of releasing them on DVD. -MLB will be releasing a 'Cubs Legendary Players' set, including complete game broadcasts of Cubs players doing stuff, I guess. No World Series games, since they weren't televised in 1947. -Don Larsen's perfect game exists. Doak, owner of Raresportsfilms.com has had it for over 15 years and just this October admitted to it. He tried selling it to MLB for $150,000k, but no deal could be reached. He says he has no plans of putting it on DVD. -The game is only innings 2 thru 9, however the first inning does exist. It was sold 20 years ago as part of a 'projector deal' to show that the projector works. Whoever bought the projector knows where that crucial piece of recorded history went. -Rumor has it Roger Maris' 61* game exists, on kinescope, but the owner of it is unknown. Basing it off of the timetable in finding out Doak had the Larsen game, it could be a long time before the details are known. -19 pre-1970 World Series Games are known to be in existence, according to some reports. I find this hard to believe, since MLB owns 2 from 52, 7 from 65, 7 from 68 and 5 from 69. That is 21 right there. That doesn't include the innings 2 thru 9 version of Larsen's game that Doak owns. Anyways, if you know anyone that has old 35mm film reels laying around, works for a local television station with archives, etc. ask them if you can look around for old kinescopes. Hopefully, you might stumble upon a game or two. Most of the surviving games come from Armed Service men, who brought the reels back with them after MLB had allowed them filmed and shipped overseas so that they could see them. Usually they were destroyed in a week but sometimes the soldiers brought them back with them. What I find hard to believe that as large as 'Red Sox Nation' is proclaimed to be, not 1 single kinescope of the 1967 Series exists. The 1965, 1968 and 1969 games can easily be found on DVD from traders, online auction sites and online classified sites. I got my copy of Game 5 from 1968 from Detroit Atheletic Company. I believe it was their last copy. The DVD has trouble playing in my DVD player, but luckily this laptop had a DVD burner on it. I ripped Disc 1 (they came in 2 discs, not a dual layer) and then burned it to a DVDR. No playing problems after that. Despite the constant hissing, the quality isn't that bad at all. Oh, and Brock WAS SAFE! Hope this helps.

The 1961 Giants game, although partial, would only be worth owning if it featured a Willie Mays at-bat. I'm intrigued by the 1959 Cardinals vs Dodgers. There was an edited down hour-long broadcast version on Google Video of a late 50's/early 60's (I had narrowed the date down before). I wonder if that version is the complete game broadcast. The 65, 68 and 69 World Series games are worth owning and worth pursuing, my only fear would be to purchase them (at hundreds of dollars) and have MLB turn around and release them in sets. Although, if there was ever a time to release the '68 series, this year was it. The 1968 All-Star Game is also of interest, if complete, because it features a Cardinals Carlton and vintage Astrodome. Thanks for that list, it's nice to see all of that.
Mav3rek
I have the Reds v/s Padres when Pete Rose hit 4192 on tape, entire game. And am in the process of putting it on DVD as we speak
Mav3rek
correction, it's now on DVD. Hardcore, how many DVD's did the entire 2006 season plus playoffs take?
HardcoreLegend
Well, I saved every video file used, so just to preserve the file, it took 3 DVDRs (sometimes 4) per game. Then, it was 162 DVD-DLs for each regular season game, plus the 4 games in the NLDS, the 7 games of the NLCS and 5 games of the World Series. I spent a small fortune on it, but it was worth it. Just the other day I pulled out Pujols' 3 HR day against the Reds (Easter) and watched it. Both of the Game 5 DVDs were bad, but when ripped and reburned they worked fine. They need extensive editing, often times and inning starts, then goes black, then restarts from 5 minutes before. Oh, and Lou Brock WAS SAFE! Mav3rek
That's a lot of friggin' DVD's. WOW... I figured it took that much after I put the #4192 game on a DVD+R It took almost the entire DVD for the pre-game, game, and post game. The post game was longer than a usual post game is, b/c they had "The Greatest Hit Ever" celebration.
Padres67
If you are referring to the non slide against detroit-his leg was kept from the plate by freehan's leg-should have slid. I was for them that year. He got cocky as he was picked off by Lolich as well. Tigers were a better team that year anyway.
Cash #25
Oh, and Lou Brock WAS SAFE! Now Hardcore, as you know, I was at that game. I can truthfully say that I saw Brock's foot miss homeplate by about half an inch. I saw that from my seat in the centerfield bleachers, some 400 feet from home. :)
HardcoreLegend
If you are referring to the non slide against detroit-his leg was kept from the plate by freehan's leg-should have slid. I was for them that year. He got cocky as he was picked off by Lolich as well. Tigers were a better team that year anyway. I don't know that the Tigers had a better team that year. They were getting smoked pretty hard that entire series up until late in Game 5. If Red had gone with Carlton instead of Hoerner, there wouldn't have been a Game 6. Brock called out at home was less consequential, less so than Maris' poor pinch-hit AB, Javier booting the ball or the Detroit second basemens' amazing play on Brock's 4th AB. Any one of those things go the other way and the series would have been over. Everything went the Tigers way the rest of the way out, even with Flood's stumble in CF. I replayed it about 10 times and Brock's toe touches homeplate before Freehan's leg blocks it. I don't know that Brock was cocky in that situation, anymore so than he knew he had more than likely beat a throw if there was even going to be one. It doesn't really matter now, except to Bob Gibson...who to this day still says the Cardinals were the better team, even though the better team doesn't always win. To me, he's touching the plate and has touched the plate at this point in the photo.
Padres67
You make some good points-but from that angle it is impossible to tell when Brock was tagged. If he is tagged when Brock "touches" a small sliver of the plate as seen in this picture then a tie can go either way-doen't always go to the runner. I believe he was tagged prior to his momentum carrying him into the plate. I dont know if the next hitter was telling him to slide or not-maybe that person led him to believe that sliding wasn't needed. I agree on Carlton. That could have been the difference. I was living in San Diego watching the minor league Padres and picking the Cardinals because San Diego usually had National League affiliates. I liked the Cardinal uniforms better as well as the players. I was a Maris fan, and a Gibson fan. As a 12 year old you pick teams sometimes for strange reasons. Cash #25
He was out.....or he was safe. Darned close one. I have to hand it to homeplate umpire Harvey, he made that call firmly and stuck with it, then explained it later. Interesting sidenote to that play from the Detroit perspective: everyone knows about Mayo Smith sticking centerfielder Mickey Stanley at shortstop so Kaline could play right, putting Northrup back in center. Late in the game, however, Mayo would put Oyler at short, move Stanley to center, and Northrup to left, replacing Horton. This didn't sit well with Willie, and he said so to Mayo. The explanation he got was that, while Horton could cover as much ground as Northrup, the latter had the stronger arm. I'd imagine when Willie saw Brock rounding third, he was pretty pumped to make that throw.
fizzjob
Damn, I thought I was obsessive when I downloaded the Gameday Audio archives for the entire 2005 White Sox season and burned that to a DVD... Well, and all the post-season video, as well as a couple of "highlight" games throughout the year. But...every game on DVD...dayum!
