el_jefe061
I know I'm gonna get the "Use the Search" answer, but I've tried and using the search terms "MVPEdit" and "Rar" don't narrow anything down. How do I upload freshly downloaded rosters to MVPEdit? Do I need the PC version?
kgbaseball
You need the PC version. Everything you need to know about MVPEdit is in MarkB's FAQ.

Jim825
If you are loading a .mbe file, click File -> Open and then select the .mbe file you want to open. If you are loading .dat files click File -> Import -> DAT Files and then select the folder where the .dat files reside.
Jim825
You need the PC version. Everything you need to know about MVPEdit is in MarkB's FAQ. That's not entirely true. He can load downloaded rosters into MVPEdit without having the game. He just can't do anything with them after he's edited them, unless he converts them to a console format (although I have no idea how to do that). el_jefe061
I'm trying to edit them myself before I mod my Xbox. I just downloaded the latest roster from the PC section (At least that's what I think) and am trying to load it. I'm trying to download Ultimate Rosters because I just downloaded KG's Roster Overhaul. I'm running into some snags because I've got some problems with WinZip. Is the rar file the Xbox roster file? No, the .RAR file is an archive file (similar to a .ZIP file). To open up a .RAR file, you need a utility like WinRAR. You can download a free version here: http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm Once you open up the file with WinRAR, you can extract the roster files. Darkslide820
Now that I've used MVPedit a few times, here's my thoughts: 1) I'm still trying to figure out the picture things, as the game stretches my portraits that I put in. 2) The photo list doesn't include everyone. For example, Roberto Alomar is one of the first 10, but his name is not listed. This throws me off when I try to assign my own pictures to slots I think are unused. 3) An undo feature would be nice, as well as some help tips. I don't know what a global edit is, and I don't wanna mess things up just to test it out. 4) The player editing stats should follow more with the screens found in the in-game CAP. As I follow along with the CAPs I have made on XBox as I try and recreate them using MVPedit, I have to keep jumping back and forth between tabs. The 5 star rating is not on the same tab as name and position are, but the bunting and stealing ratings are. Which leads me to... 5) The 0-15 rating system is pretty annoying. I have a fielder with a 75 fielding rating, but in MVPedit, I have to put it as 10. I have to keep referring to notes I jotted down just to see what corresponds to what. 6) The list of batting stances excludes Generic 2 and Generic 3, and the Classic 1-3 is at the bottom of the list in reverse order. 7) I would have preferred if the pitching styles were labeled as they are in the CAP. I realize the descriptions found in MVPedit are intended for those editing their players through there, but again when copying from a CAP you already have this adds another step to check for. 8 ) Fastball is limited to 100, while some pitchers throw faster. 9) The angles for pitch trajectory are off. Imagine throwing a 5-11 curveball!

Darkslide820
"just use the Photo list option to see which numbers are being used" That's my point. It doesn't show everyone that is used. "no it's not" Well, I tried typing in 101 or 102 and it gave me an error message. It told me to put a number from 0-100. "just change them to what you want" I know I can change which trajectory a pitch is. I can do that in-game as well. I just thought it was something the creators of MVPedit would have noticed as they typed in the options, or whatever else they do. Don't get me wrong. I like MVPedit and what it allows you to do. I'm just leaving these comments so that whoever has input to making the next version can see what is less-than-perfect with this one.
kgbaseball
The Photo List only shows players IDs that are in the roster. It's not very helpful. You can change pitch speed in one of the .dat files in the /database folder. You can make the correct trajectories by altering the config file for MVPEdit. It's simple. MarkB
3) An undo feature would be nice, as well as some help tips. I don't know what a global edit is, and I don't wanna mess things up just to test it out. Undo feature is possible, but unlikely. The file you're using is updated as you change values in the rosters, that's why there's no save feature. I know, it confused the hell out of me at first as well. Just make sure you take backups before doing any editing. Which leads on to my next point... Global edit is used to, well, globally edit, players. For example, if you wanted to change all players with a brown bat to use a light brown bat, you would use global edit to do it. If you wanted to increase every player's contact by 5 points, again, global edit would be what you'd use. If you want to mess around with it, take a copy of your .mbe file and open that, then screw around to your heart's content. I've always found the best way to learn is by doing. :)
kgbaseball
I use Global Edit all the time, and the best way to do it is think it out first, and then write down the steps you'll need to do the edit. That way, if you see any faulty logic in what you're about to edit, you can change it without worrying about messing up.

I've always found the best way to learn is by doing. Definitely. I just don't feel like having to make copies of everything everytime I try something. I already made a complete copy of my "MVP Baseball 2007" folder so that I could screw around and try editing stuff with MVPedit. Any idea on if there will be another version of MVPedit that addresses the issues I brought up? Also, what happens if you have 26 people on a roster and open the game before you remember to change it?
Homer
you'd have to ask the creator to see if he's planning an update. i haven't heard of anything. as far as 26 goes, i'm pretty sure that if you did that that it won't let you export the rosters to the database folder. only one way to find out though. kgbaseball
It won't let you export it if there's more than 25 on a roster or less than 25 on a major league roster.
Darkslide820
Got another problem for you guys. I wanted to use the unlockable players in my rosters for use on multiple historic fantasy teams. However, in MVP 07 they are replaced by, well, you. Therefore, there is no Babe Ruth or Nolan Ryan that I can see the portrait or cyberface or body build of, and put on various teams to my liking. Does this mean that to see these guys in MVPedit I have to load up the normal version of MVP 2005? I'm not sure that would work anyways because Lou Boudreau is still in MVP 07, but is nowhere to be found in MVPedit.
Homer
if you go up to File and use the Import and Export functions there, you'll see an option for player and teams. you would need to get them off the original game (from your cd) and import them into this roster. or you could beg kg to do it for you :)
Darkslide820
Hah. I already had redsox make me some alpha files. That's enough. I wanna do everything myself; I'm just asking you guys how. The whole fish thing, with the feeding and the teaching. OK, so when you say to import and export with the original CD, you mean I can take ONLY those files if I wanted to, or do I have to load the whole game and both CD's as if it was my first install?
Homer
nah, actually all you need is the mbe file from the original cd. i uploaded it for you just to save you the trouble. what you would do is open up this mbe file for 2005, then go to File>Export>Team. then select which one you want. it'll ask you to save it somewhere. this should save this as an mep file. at least i believe. this is the process i use to import individual players. i've never done a whole team, but i assume the process is the same... anywho, back on track...once you have this mep file, reopen up your 2007 roster with MVPedit, then go to File>Import>Team. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E5CJWBZU
