oxbay
I am really enjoying these "Around the League" news. Great job on those. Its very interesting. BTW, is a trade for a first baseman coming? Thanks redsox, I appreciate you checking in. As for a trade, I haven't decided what I'm going to do. The questions I'm considering are: (1) Should I trade for a better lefty at first? (2) Should I platoon at 1B? (3) If I platoon, do I use Boone against lefties and Jacobs against righties (thus avoiding a trade)? Let me know what you think....
DoubleD
What about trading a lower-end pitching prospect for Craig Wilson and platooning with him? I don't remember his exact in-game ratings, but I remember him have big ratios against LHP. And if not Craig, there's a lot of other 1B's who are only good against LHP's. Craig's always the first one I think of though, because whenever I do fantasy draft dynasties I grab him late to give me a good leftie killer on the bench. Just remember of how valuable Willis is though. He's not just a great pitcher, but also a lefty and young, making his value huge. Don't under-sell. Also think about just how much the Yankees supposedly chase after Willis, aswell as how much they need another starter. If you're looking at a CF with good young pitching, I'd go there with Melky Cabrera and a couple of their pitching prospects. Obviously not somebody of Hughes's stature, but a lot of their young pitching has great ratings ingame.

When I wrote that post I was thinking about a reunion for Delgado and the Marlins but then I realized that it would be down-right impossible to take on his salary. I think the first question to ask would be to, are you thinking about going out for a veteran or for a youngster. If you are going for a youngster I think you should stick to what you have and basically go with the 3rd option (have Boone play against lefties). Bring in a vet for the remainder of the season to platoon with Jacobs until I can boost Jacobs' ratings through spring training. I did a quick run through of the MLB teams and these are some options I came up with (I would like to send R. Messenger as I can't stand this guy): Craig Wilson (1.80) vs. Lefty - 83 (P) / 69 © vs. Right - 80 (P) / 60 © Olmedo Saenz (800K) vs. Lefty - 83 (P) / 83 © vs. Right - 75 (P) / 55 © Dimitri Young (500K) vs. Lefty - 77 (P) / 73 © vs. Right - 80 (P) / 69 © Javy Lopez (100K) vs. Lefty - 74 (P) / 83 © vs. Right - 78 (P) / 77 © When I wrote that post I was thinking about a reunion for Delgado and the Marlins but then I realized that it would be down-right impossible to take on his salary. I agree with you regarding the vet (as mentioned above). Overall, I would like to develop Jacobs to be the 1B of our future. Thanks to both of you for the ideas and thoughts. I appreciate it. Pokeys
Dude, GET TEX! lol that would be sweet hes an awesome switch hitter and great defensively. Im not totally sure which pitching prospects you like or are doing well for you but im sure something like Olsen and a decent position prospect or player would land him... I think that would be even too because Texas is probably going to lose him to free agency after this season that makes me cry big time.

While Tex would be a great asset, it is way out of reach for Florida. While they have the prospects to deal for him, they would not be able to re-sign him at year's end, and that would be too much to give up for a rental. Also, if I deal Willis before the deadline, I'm going to need Olsen's arm in the rotation... Thanks for the idea though!

Pokeys
Awesome post man! alot of cool details. Do you have Volstad in Triple A right now? maybe you should think about moving him down to Double A, however all your pitching prospects are doing bad by the looks of it. Gagne 19 Saves ...
