Great job, fantastic dinasty :D Go Marlins Go

Thanks for checking in. I appreciate it!

I like those new boxscores.

Yeah, I do to. For some reason I didn't think they would run right after I started a season, but I lucked out and they did. Plus they keep the season stats for the players! Can't complain about that!

Where did you get the boxscores?

It is one of the options to record the box score when you initially start the program, however, the name I seem to recall is neoninja (possibly).

The latest issue arose Wednesday — the Yankees’ only day off during spring training — when General Manager Brian Cashman said he had no plans to extend Rodriguez’s contract to keep him from leaving... If he becomes a free agent, the teams in Los Angeles and Chicago, among others, would probably be interested in offering him deals lasting much longer than three years."

League Rumors:

Sources: Piniella expects Cubs to go hard after A-Rod

CHICAGO -- Lou Piniella, who was formally introduced as the new Chicago Cubs manager Tuesday afternoon, wants to acquire embattled -- and possibly available -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

Sources claim that Piniella, who is extremely close to Rodriguez, expects the Cubs to pursue the 10-time All-Star aggressively. The 63-year-old manager and the 31-year-old Rodriguez have what amounts to a quasi-father/son relationship; Rodriguez was managed in Seattle by Piniella from 1994 to 2000. It is that relationship -- and the tantalizing talent of Rodriguez -- that has prompted Piniella to want to explore a trade with the Yankees.

Rodriguez has a no-trade clause and could veto any proposed deal. But the idea of playing for Piniella, in the slightly less-pressurized Chicago market, and for a franchise that loves star power could appeal to Rodriguez. So could a chance for a fresh start after a .290-35-121 regular season that wasn't good enough for Yankees fans.

Agent Scott Boras, who negotiated Rodriguez's 10-year, $252 million contract with Texas in December 2000, downplayed speculation about Rodriguez being traded to the Cubs or any other club.

"He's a great player, and a lot of teams have an interest in a player of that stature," Boras said. "The reality is, Alex is happy in New York. He likes it there. He doesn't want to go anywhere and he has a no-trade clause. I think it's the end of the story."

Boras also pointed out that Rodriguez has a provision in his contract that allows him to opt out after the 2007 season. He said that "theoretically" Rodriguez can opt out after the 2008 and 2009 seasons as well.

"What team is going to go out and trade a huge package of talent for a player they know could possibly leave them?" Boras said. "We designed the contract in a way that puts in the player's hands the ability to control his fate. Alex Rodriguez has that ability."

Manny to the Tribe?

June 20, 2007

The Indians have once again inquired into the availability of Manny Ramirez. However, the Red Sox stuck to the price they set before the winter meetings -- Fausto Carmona, Adam Miller, Trevor Crowe and the Tribe paying the last $20 million annually on the contract for 2007 and 2008. There are reports Ramirez might also want his two $20 million-per-season options for 2009 and 2010 picked up before he'd waive his no-trade clause. One concern facing the Indians is the free agency of Westbrook after 2007, and Sabathia and Hafner after 2008.

Williams, Sox Seeking Buehrle Takers

June 21, 2007

Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams and starting pitcher Mark Buehrle seem to agree on at least one thing: After the 2007 season, the left-hander is gone. Coming off Buehrle's worst season in the major leagues, in which he was 12-13 with a career-high 4.99 ERA, the hope is that the southpaw returns to his ace form. However, he's a free agent after this season, so it's likely he's walking either way. Sources close to Williams say that he is shopping Buehrle in an attempt to get something in return rather than letting him walk free and clear.

A's, Mets Deal Could Close This Weekend

June 22, 2007

According to a Bay Area-based baseball official, the Mets and A's "are finally discussing a deal that could send right-hander Danny Haren to the Mets in return for Heilman, Lasting Milledge and a minor league pitcher".

"Yes, the A's are reluctant to deal Haren and would rather deal Blanton," said the official. "(But) the Mets really don't want to give up Milledge unless they get a No. 2, or a potential No. 1 starter in return."

Haren is one of the most sought-after young starters in all of baseball, and if Minaya is able to land him, it would be an amazing coup. But will he be able to pull it off? The two clubs have talked swaps for several players over the last two years and have never found enough common ground -- or patience -- with each other to get a deal done. What makes this deal different.

"Minaya and Beane really wanted to have this deal done at the Winter Meetings, but for some reason, the Mets and A's could never seem to make the different parts work. I think they're past that stage now, and might be closer to something happening"

Damn, Willis has a rough record. Do you expect to see him improve down the stretch? Hard to believe your team is doing so good with Willis struggling or at least it looks like hes struggled a bit. Im new to the site so just started following. He has a nice ERA however :)...

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it.

As for Willis, I think I officially 'hate' him. :biglaff: He does have a poor record, but has a nice ERA. I'll probably look into trading him before the deadline. The question is: How much to get in return?

I was thinking a SP prospect, solid CF, and something?

My thought on the Willis deal - I really hope that you don't trade him, but if you do, why not look for a veteran instead of prospects. Your team is already loaded with them. Maybe you can go for a veteran first baseman or a right fielder.

Hey redsox, thanks for stopping by. The first base idea wouldn't be bad, but I really like having Hermida in RF (there's something about that kid). Also, I'm trying to stick with the Marlins philosophy and going cheap and young, if you know what I mean.

Padres Lock Up Young Through 2011

June 23, 2007

ChrisYoungPic.jpg

Because the Padres controlled his future through the 2008 season, Chris Young admitted he was surprised when the club approached him in spring training about a contract extension.

“I thought something might be said next winter about a new contract,†Young said. “So when they approached us this spring, I was really excited.â€

The Padres this morning announced a contract extension with the 27-year-old right-hander through the 2010 season with a club option for 2011. Young is guaranteed $14.5 million, but the total could exceed $23 million if the Padres pick up the $8.5 million option for 2011.

Young, who was scheduled to make $600,000 this season, will receive a boost to $750,000 for 2007 plus a $500,000 signing bonus. He will make $2.5 million in 2008, $4.5 million in 2009 and $6.25 million in 2010.

“We've got a good nucleus of young players and we want to protect and grow with them,†Towers said.

He said the next players on the Padres' negotiations list are center fielder Mike Cameron and reliever Scott Linebrink – both of whom are eligible for free agency after the season."
