TCM 06/8.1 Plus Crash

Okay, I started having the problem where the game loads after you select stadium, etc, and the load bar flashes up for a split-second, and then the game crashes with a window to send info to Microsoft, etc. To try to fix it I uninstalled completely, then installed the game, installed 5.5 patch, installed 06 TCM, and then installed the latest 8.1 Plus rosters. And I'm still having the problem. I've done searches, but nobody has the same problem.

Appreciate any responses :)

Ok, so I've copied the original database files from my CD to the computer and replaced them on the directory. It still crashes... interesting, is it the 06 Mod that causes it to crash then?

Hmmm.

You did a FRESH install. Then put in the official EA patch (#3 or #5). THEN installed the 06 mod? And that is ALL?

And you're getting a crash.

That's an unusual result. Maybe we should wait for one of the more experienced folk to chime in. Kraw, maybe.

Then your models.big wasn't the most up-to-date. It's possible that the latest 8.1 Plus isn't meant to be used without the soon-to-be-released '07 mod. I haven't read the readme - maybe it says that.

At the very least - you have to make sure you have the up-to-the-second update of BigSchmooz's models.big to use the newest UR updates.

well i installed the models.big that totte recommended. I think it's the one that's 39 mb big found on eamods. If that's not the one, which one is it?

That is the most current one.

MIne crashes regardless of whether or not I installed 8.1 Standard or Plus. I'm off for now, but I'll be back later to check it out more thoroughly. I'll try and download that newest models.big and see if it works with 8.1 Plus. I'm not against doing another fresh install either.

That's the one. You take the .exe-file from the download I talked about and put it in the same folder as your existing models.big and run it (the .exe-file). Be sure to take a backup of your old file first!

Alright so I've just uninstalled MVP and now I'm looking for what to do. I want to have the 06 Mod, UR 8.1 installed. So what order should I do everything?

Clean install > add patches by EA > install 06 (or 07 mod :D) > UR 8.1

Argh, it's killing me - I have just done a clean installation of MVP 2005, and when I run it (clean, no mods, no nothing), it crashes right before the loading screen to the actual game.

Try this, although it will delete all your controls and saved dynasties/owner modes...

1. Uninstall your current MVP Baseball 2005 install.

2. Delete your MVP Baseball 2005 folder.

3. Delete the MVP Baseball 2005 that's in in your My Documents folder.

4. Re-install MVP Baseball 2005.

5. Install the required patches.

6. Install MVP 06 (or 07) modification.

Hope that works!

Done it mate - with no luck. However I'll try again.

wow tough problem... probly somthing really obscure ...

maybe your are using an old shortcut that is linking to an exe file that no longer exists?

maybe your computer is having problems in general with say Direct X or other misc video card issues...

Do you have other games installed that are working? That require similar system requirments as mvp?

EDIT: a good way to test video card and direct x is to goto start>run> then type dxdiag a direct x window will appear with all kinds of tests you can put ur videao and sound settings through.. check to make sure your system is passing all those ok.

PHS1234... what is your status? I have the same problem and I am trying to get this resolved.

I've deleted everything on my computer related to MVP 2005 and started over. Now it works. So try that - delete the "My Documents/MVP 2005", after reinstalling.
