Horrible loss.

Yeah, it was pretty damned sickening. Lowry placed his pitches well, but Rockies hitters covered the entire plate tonight, hitting everything close very hard. And the Giants offense just isn't powerful enough to keep up that sort of pace.

Giants Held to Four Hits in 5-1 Loss to Philly

Eddy Martinez-Esteve makes a diving catch in foul territory on a line drive by Abraham O. Nunez to

end the fifth inning. Nunez would get his later though.

Randy Winn kept the Giants within one when he gunned down Aaron Rowand at home to end the six-

th inning. Rowand attempted to score from second on a single by Wes Helms.

For good measure, Abraham O. Nunez took Matt Morris deep for a three-run home run in the top of

the seventh inning.

Giants Offense Continues to Struggle in 4-1 Loss

Pat Burrell got the Phillies on the board in the first inning with a three run home run to center field.

Chris Coste is out at second on a 4-6-3 double play by Wes Helms to end the top of the first.

Mark Sweeney scored the only Giants run of the day on a sacrifice fly by Randy Winn in the third inning.

Pedro Feliz had a night to forget: (Left) Feliz was picked off first after reaching on a single in the se-

cond inning. (Right) Representing the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, Feliz hit a chopper back to

the mound for the last out of the game.

Feliz Drives in All Three Giants Runs in 3-2 Victory Over

Philadelphia

Todd Linden comes up throwing after fielding a single by Chris Coste in the sixth inning. Linden would

gun down Chase Utley at home to end the inning.

Barry Bonds scores what would prove to be the winning run on a single by Pedro Feliz in the bottom

of the sixth inning.

Jimmy Rollins got caught in no-man's land after rounding the bag too far following his single in the sev-

enth inning. Mark Sweeney cut off the throw in from Todd Linden and relayed to pitcher Barry Zito to

get Rollins for the second out of the frame. The next batter, Chase Utley, would fly out to right to end

the inning, stranding Wes Helms at third.

Aaron Rowand left the game after failing to break up a double play by Chris Coste in the eighth inning.

He was holding his wrist as he walked off the field.

Cain Surrenders 10 Runs, Myers Picks Up First Win Thanks to

Offensive Outburst

two first inning Philadelphia runs.

contest. This, his second inning blast, tied the game 2-2. The tie would be short lived.

Chase Utley drives in Michael Bourn to cap off a three run fourth inning for the Phillies.

Michael Bourn, called up from Reading last night to replace the injured Aaron Rowand, hit two doubles

and drove in two on the night. Here he coasts into second with a double in the fifth inning, driving in

the first two of six Phillies runs in the fifth inning.

Matt Cain just flat out got beat down today, giving up 10 runs on 15 hits in 4.2 innings of work. He

was pulled in the fifth after giving up a two run shot to Jimmy Rollins.

The game will be made up tomorrow as part of a doubleheader, with the first game starting at 1:05pm PST. Oliver Perez (4-1, 4.01) will start for the Mets and Noah Lowry (3-1, 3.60) will take the mound for Giants in game one.

Game two will feature John Maine (2-3, 4.33) for the Mets and Matt Morris (1-3, 3.86) for the Giants.

Perez Takes No-Hitter Into Eighth, Giants Fall 5-0

Moises Alou slides into third with a triple in the first inning, plating Jose Reyes on the play. Alou would

later score on a single by Carlos Beltran.

Barry Bonds, doing what 10 Giants did on the day, strikes out in the bottom of the first.

Oliver Perez was stellar today, improving to 5-1 on the season with a two-hit shutout. After walking

Randy Winn to lead off the first inning, Perez retired 22 straight hitters...

...before Bengie Molina singled in the eighth inning, ending Perez's no-hit bid. Molina also broke up a

perfect game by Dodgers hurler Randy Wolf in the ninth inning on April 6.

Moises Alou was perfect in his return to San Francisco, going 4-4 with a triple and an RBI. In the top of

the seventh, Alou reached base in a different way however, when a Noah Lowry slider hit him in the

leg. Warnings were issued, but there were no indications that the beaning was intentional.

Bochy Locks Reporters Out of Clubhouse Following 5-0 Loss in Game One of Doubleheader

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - After Giants players cleared the dugout following their 5-0 loss to the New York Mets in game one of today's doubleheader - a game in which they managed just two hits - Bruce Bochy cleared the locker room of reporters and locked the doors.

When asked about the situation, Giants general manager Brian Sabean had this to say:

"If Bruce thinks that this needs to be done, I'm behind him 100 percent. The team is drastically underachieving right now, and sometimes things need to be done to shake it's foundation. It's only the first week of May, so there's time to turn this around. But you've got to start fixing problems now, when they arise - not in August. By then, it's too late."

Game two of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at approximately 5:35pm PST. No lineups have been announced at this time.

When we connect with pitches right now (which, against Perez, didn't happen often), they go right at people. So it's something that I'm just going to have to fight through.

Linden Prevents Doubleheader Sweep with Walkoff in Tenth

David Wright is called out by home plate umpire Ron Kulpa for the third out in the top of the first inning.

Wright was thrown out at home by left fielder Fred Lewis when he attempted to score from second on

a single by Shawn Green.

Kevin Frandsen lined a triple into "triple's alley" in the bottom of the first inning, coasting into thrid

without a throw. Frandsen would score on a single by the next batter, Todd Linden.

David Wright wouldn't be denied again in the sixth inning, sliding around Eliezer Alfonzo to tie the

game 1-1 on a single by Shawn Green.

The game would go into the tenth inning, but Todd Linden (left) prevented the Mets from sweeping to-

day's doubleheader with a walkoff home run to left field. The shot gave Mets closer Billy Wagner (right)

his first loss of the season.
