Two simple system questions......Need some advice.

Ok, I got the game installed correctly and it's so awesome. But I haven't ever really used my PC for MVP and my system is lacking graphically as all the players look odd and very ploygonal.(Think Maybe early PS2 type stuff) The only game I ever really played on my system has been Call of Duty, which looked fine.

Basically it seems I need a new graphics/video card and I'm not the most PC intelligent person. What kind of card should I get? I am currently running on a:

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X

My friend friend who is great with computers suggested I get this card:

128 (or higher) AGP (8X) Graphics Card. With a VGA out

Will that be good enough for the game to look normal/good? I don't need anything spectacular or over the top.

Secondly, I also need to get a controller for the PC. What would everyone here recommend?

Thanks again for the help!

As for a controller, use an XBOX or PS2 controller. You'll need a USB cable for it, but it's relatively easy to find and takes no getting used to if you already have an XBOX or PS2.

Ok cool. Where would I find a USB cable for a PS2 controller and is it easy to set up?

I have this one. I didn't order it from this site, but you can search around for the best price. I also have heard that Radio Shack sells something like this, but never checked it out. Installation is easy. No software required, really.

I had the same g-card. I would suggest buying a RADION 9250+, they are so much better. When I was using that card, the players had semi-see through patches on their legs, arms, chest, and back. But this wasn't as bad once you turn off batting helmet reflections.

Also, I bought my controler from Logitech.com, and it's still working fine. I paid like $30 for a rumblepad with analog sticks. Great deal since Walmart and BestBuy didn't have them.

Well since you say you do not want something to spectacular I would look into being the XFX Geforce 6200 256mb card...its maybe $60 and is a decent card for the money...you'll be able to play MVP on it for sure...and for a PS2 to USB convert cable I just bought one from the Source (formerly Radio Shack in Canada) and it was about 20$ and it works with any PS2 controller on the market.

Here's a link to the GFX card I am talking about:

Crazy/dumb question. I have a PS3 and that controller has a USB connecter to it. Will that work rather than PS2/adpater one?

Supposedly you can. Instructions here:

I haven't gotten a chance to try it out myself, but it sounds like everyone is having trouble with getting it to work.

I'm probably going to get a USB adapter so I can use my ps2 controllers on my ps3 as a 3rd and 4th controller anyway. Although I'm not sure if the adapter would work for both the PC and PS3. I haven't seen one that specifically says it works for both yet.

Edit:

Ah check it out:

This isn't made for ps3, but supposedly it is compatible with it. You can plug TWO ps2 dual shock controllers into it. It says vibration works and digital and analog modes available. I found it from someone reviewing it on amazon.com:

"... plugged it into the PS3 using two DualShock controllers. The PS3 recognized them and I was playing 4 player (also using two SixAxis controllers) in no time! I even plugged in the Remote Control adapter and could navigate menus in DVDs using the official Sony DVD Remote (Though, the DVD had to already be playing for the direction buttons to work). Only downside seems to be you have to manually turn on the Analog button for the DualShock controllers, and obviously there's no way to use the PS button on the DualShocks, but overall, I'd highly recommend this item if you have two PlayStation 2 controllers and are looking to save some cash without buying more PlayStation 3 controllers."

I actually can't help you on the PC card selection because I don't have an AGP port I have a PCI slot. I heard they were doing away with AGP cards to. Don't know if it's true but, I am a PCI card believer myself. Annyways, I actually boutght an "official" Logitech-EA Sports-USB-PC rumble controller at Best Buy about three years ago just for MVP Baseball. Costed me about $50.00 dollars back then. Still have it today and it works like butter. Don't know if they still sell the controller or not, but it's been well worth the money.
