Juan Pierre leading the MVP race???

At the trade deadline in my Cards dynasty, I found a message saying Juan Pierre is winning the MVP race. Here are his stats...

.320 AVG, 9 HR, 51 RBI, 83 R, 131 H, 26 2B, .402 OBP

Not bad stats, but Luis Gonzoles is blowing him away in almost every stat (and should be MVP in my opinion)...

.360 AVG, 27 HR, 81 RBI, 78 R, 144 H, 32 2B, .426 OBP

I would even argue Albert Pujols should be ahead of Pierre with these stats...

.330 AVG, 34 HR, 77 RBI, 68 R, 141 H, 14 2B (I need to be more agressive running), .347 OBP (bad for AP, I know).

I just don't see how Pierre LEADS the race. In it, ok, but WINNING it? WTF???

I've noticed that the game is obsessed with steals. Whoever gets the most steals, it seems, always gets the mvp in my dynasties...if they're playing for a decent team at least. It doesn't matter if someone has a .220 avg, if they have a lot of steals, they have a shot at being mvp.

Yeah, I think that there should be a new stat called Quality Starts. I mean, I play a game called OOTP5 (Out of the Park Baseball 5) where this is a stat. This game is more indepth than MVP, but you dont play the game though, its more of a stats game. I play this in an online league, and I took a team with highest salary and no talent, and put them 1 game below .500. They finished the season 79-81. If I won one game that I lost, I'd be an even .500. But who cares about this?

I concur...I've played a ton of dynasties and a guy with a decent average, 10-15 homeruns and 40-50 steals will almost always beat out a guy with a similar average and 40 homeruns and over 100 RBI's in the MVP race.

Unfortunately, I think the fact that Juan Pierre has hit 9 jacks with 51 RBI's and 26 doubles at the break his silly for a leadoff guy...especially for 170 lb. Juan Pierre, but explains why he is ahead of Gonzo and Albert.

sorry but that would have to be extremely boring blowing everyone away like that

You talking to me? (Sorry, just watched Taxi Driver).

For me, I am in a crappy division. While I am the best team in the league, the rest of the division , minus the astros is under .500. The Astros are 3 games above .500. In the NL East, I'd be only 4-5 games up, I think. The Mets are playing .590+ ball.

And it's not like I am playing .700 ball. I am playing at about .640 clip. The Yankees have a similar record in the AL.
