pfalvey
So why did pfalvey tell me a specific line? Is that where most of the IMPORTANT changes are made? ANd how did they find out it was that line, if the previous statement is true? You can change any aspect of the datafile if you know what they are. The directions I gave in the post above were just copied and pasted from another thread in which I was directly responding to someone's inquiry on how to edit the pitch meter variables in the datafile. I didn't feel like retyping it all and didn't think to edit out any specific references to the pitch meter. Anyways, yes you can edit many other things in the datafile and maddiedaddies datafile line spreadsheet is your friend.
compmaniac
Isn't maddiesdaddys' datafile line spreadsheet only for the specific line that you told me about?
pfalvey
Isn't maddiesdaddys' datafile line spreadsheet only for the specific line that you told me about? No, MD's datafile line spreadsheet basically identifies where certain variables of the game are located in the datafile. The datafile contains many, many different options and variables that affect the way MVP is played. However, it is very big and none of the variables are labeled, making it a challenging thing to edit since one basically has to change a value and then see how it affects the game to see what it does. The line spreadsheet simplifies this to a large extent by identifying alot of the variables, though probably not all. Even then, it only identifies the variables, it doesn't give you any idea of what kind of values to enter for the variable.
Jim825
snepp uploaded a Datafile Layout spreadsheet for MVP 2004 that listed not only the variables themselves, but default values and explanations of what some of the values meant. From what I recall, most of the variables in the MVP 2004 were in the MVP 2005 datafile, so this spreadsheet was valuable for both releases. rows24
Trues I like the datafile, the only thing is I want to use the default camera view #6 behind the pitcher when I play. Its to far away for me. Do you know what datafile lines and numbers will change it back to default? Others wise the gameplay between User and CPU is great.
Hocking
Wow, I am really enjoying your datafile V1.4 Trues. I really love your new "behind the pitcher" view, and your "Aerial" view that really shows off the stadiums well. Very impressive. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to be able to make a view similar to Trues "Aerial" view that pans out quite a ways so you can see most of the field when a ball is hit, but instead of showing the field from home plate out you would actually see the field from the outfield wall in. I hope this makes sense. Simply put, when the ball is hit, your view actually goes to a panned out view from the outfield stands looking in towards home plate. This would be similar to the third person view that was available in Acclaim's "All Star Baseball 05" for those of you who remember that game. Just a thought. I know absolutely nothing about modding stuff like this, but I am amazed at some of the things you guys put together. Thanks for you efforts. If I undeerstand you correctly, you might enjoy a set of camera angles that were uploaded by a member here named thasainted40. Look for them in the downloads section. Hocking
I tried thasainted40's cameras, but they are really designed for assisted or automatic fielding setups only. The angles look very nice, but there are alot of hidden zones where you can't see the ball to make a play on it if you are using manual fielding like I do. If the ball gets by you in the outfield, it simply rolls out of view and you can't find it to pick it up. That is the only problem.
