What a game!

Check out the screenshot of the game I just played between the O's and Yanks.

Unfortunately I was on the losing end of it, but it was a whole lot of fun. We lost because with two outs in the bottom of the 27th, Jay Payton dropped a deep flyball that would've been the final out, but instead turned into a three-base error. I was down to my last pitcher (Chris Ray), so I brought him in to face A-Rod, and A-Rod actually came through in the clutch with a single up the middle JUST past a diving Tejada.

Even though I just wasted about two hours of my life in a loss, I actually wasn't that heartbroken. It would've been nice to win, but 6 hits over 27 innings gets a little boring. It was one of those days where every ball you hit is right at someone. So I was ready for it to be over.

What's the record for longest game (inning wise) played by someone on the boards?

Damn that is crazy. I don't thing I've ever made it past 15 innings, let alone 27! if you have the full box score, could you please post it.

btw, I just had a 'what a game' moment last night. It wasn't exactly a pitchers duel though and I also lost. The game included two grand slams, an inside the park HR, 18 runs and 27 hits. Even though I lost, I had a nice comeback to tie, until they (the Mets) took the lead for good in the 8th on a granny.

Unfortunately I didn't save it - it was just an exhibition game (testing out new rosters). There were a few 0-for-10s in there on both sides - just sick. My starter (Bedard) went 9 IP and almost everyone in my entire bullpen with the exception of Bradford and Ray (Bradford stunk and only got a few outs and Ray just faced A-Rod at the end) went at least 3 innings. The Yankees started with Wang (who went 8), Rivera for 3, Vizcaino for 4, Chris Britton for 4, Mike Myers for 5, and Kyle Farnsworth for 3.

i basically had the opposite of this on MVP 06

i was hittin for both teams (because i like hitting) and it was USC @ Arizona

Arizona was 1 run away from beating USC by the 10 run rule in both the 7th and 8th innings...

in the top of the 8th USC scored 14 runs to take the lead 27-22 and won 27-24... it was freaking awesome!

I had few 20 innings + games... One that sticks out is a 21 inning low scoring game where the pitching by the AI was just incredible .. .game is over 2 years old but I still remember it:

Story/Game recap: Montreal plays 21 excruciating innings...And lose!

well here's one i had recently. it was a gem. my created player has been on a tear, so the yankees intentionally walked him 11 times this game. i also struck out jeter 10 times!! gehrig hit a solo in the 36th and i thought it was over, but brett boone nailed a solo in the bottom of the inning. then when mantle hit a solo off of me in the 40th, jose lopez returned the favor at the bottom of that inning. the 41st inning was interesting as mark lowe was really cruising until this point. the yankees loaded the bases when the computer screwed with my controls and allowed the ball to tinkle past me at shortstop. then to top it off, the very next pitch was a liner between 3b and SS, i snagged it with a slick back hand, but again the controls wouldn't let me throw it to 2b until it was too late. i was thinking "major conspiracy" here. but i proceeded to strike out jeter next. dimaggio then hit a sharp grounder to RF that made my heart skip a beat, but ichiro gunned him out at first to leave the bases loaded. guidry then followed that half of the inning by giving up an opposite field solo to ichiro. i brought in norm charlton for the 44th and he shut them down. when i was up to bat, dan wilson hit a check swing single that nettles couldn't run down. then lopez singled up the middle. ichiro was up and i was hoping he would load the bases as i would finally get to swing the bat. well turns out he popped up. turns out the damn computer pitched to me finally! of all the situations, they pitch to me now! so as fate would hold, i hit the first pitch off of lefty gomez into the left field seats. game over!!

  • 11 months later...

I just finished an epic 18-inning battle between my Phillies and the Cardinals. After nearly two hours of playing, Lou Gehrig hit a walk-off home run against me. It was a tough loss, but it was also so much fun to play a nail-biter like that.

Here's a glimpse at the eleven (!) pitchers the Cards used in the game:

And here's the complete boxscore:
