medric822
Also, there is a pending trade that if it goes through, will land me Abreau and Lackey for Cole Hamels and Alex Rios.
kgbaseball
You can drop Liriano, he's out for the year. You're going to need a lot of pitching help. I suggest dropping Monroe and Biggio, as they won't help you much.
D-Unit
That's a steal if you make that trade...
medric822
Why drop Biggio and Monroe?
kgbaseball
I think it's pretty even. Cole Hamels might end up being better than Lackey, and Rios and Abreu are a push to me. Both guys are going to get you steals, a good average, and a few HRs.
kgbaseball
Why drop Biggio and Monroe? Biggio = bad average and offers nothing else. Barfield should do better than Biggio, making Biggio worthless. He'll sit on your bench 6 days a week. Monroe = bad average, decent amount of HRs. You've already got Swisher for that exact purpose, plus Swish can play 1st. A philosophy that has always worked for me is having 0 or 1 bench player, and lots of benched pitchers. Position players play almost everyday, so it's pointless to have position players on the bench unless they're hurt.
Guest
Medric, Tell me the top 5 players on the waivers (pitcher and hitters). Hrm...Might lack a little in power and saves.

kgbaseball
That's what the 1 bench player comes in handy for. Just have to hope he's got a game that day. And yes, he needs saves desperately. Otsuka won't get any if Gagne's healthy.
Guest
Usually, there are 3-4 players that don't play on monday and then 3-4 more on thursday, if not more. Those are days where other people who aren't active will lose production and you might get lucky. I'd carry 3-4 bench players since I only need pitchers every 5 days. kgbaseball
You have a valid point there. But usually other managers will have that many players off on Mondays and Thursdays, too. I like to have the extra pitchers in case someone has a bad game, yo have the chance to make up for it with another pitcher. Plus, more RPs = better ERA and WHIP. Guest
But depending on what kind of league he's in, some leagues have innings limits for Roto.

kgbaseball
Snap up John Patterson this instant. And if you haven't dropped Liriano yet, you need another closer. Look for Solomon Torres, who will close for the Pirates, and Jonathan Broxton, who might close for the Dodgers.
Guest
I'd drop craig for someone with upside like Cantu.
medric822
Well, I chose to snatch up Wood (gut feeling that he'll bounce back), and Octavio Dotel.
