NYM
You can't he just hates 2k sports.
Hory
Geolink is an idiot, ignore him. Franchise mode is apparently "broken" as amongst other things the cpu does not make realistic line ups when reorganising it's rosters. e.g Abreu & Giambi batting 1 & 2 for the Yankees while Jeter & Damon are 6 & 7, that sort of thing, And unlike MVP you can't change the cpu team's lineup before the start of the game. OsageCowboy
Yes. The lineups apparently get extremely screwed up, many key free agents go unsigned, and the logic is weak. In other words, it's broken. I LOVE 2K sports, but the baseball offering has been subpar 2 times straight. I can't find anywhere to get this game, it should retail for about $5, but people are trying to extort others online by offering it in the $49-59 range. This is absurd. I don't want to resort to "other" measures, but may have to do so if the offerings are really this out of whack.
caribou
Well I checked the game out to test it. I ran through a season in Franchise mode and never experienced it "[breaking]." All of the lineups were always fine and accurate too (on opening day Damon was #1, Jeter #2 and it was that way at the end of the season too.) I've never experienced 90% of the issues being claimed. Maybe I was lucky with my copy, huh? lol... ;)
OsageCowboy
I hope you are right. Could you do it again for me to verify before I purchase? Play a few games. Then sim the season and check again. If there are NO issues I will purchase.

OsageCowboy
Well I am looking for a baseball game this year. If 2k7 doesn't have franchise/gm issues, I'll purchase it. If it does, I'll land a copy of 2005, but I've found so far that this is no easy task.

OsageCowboy
No, I'm going off of what has been posted on www.operationsports.com. I'm not going to spend $60 on a game with a messed up franchise mode.
caribou
I hope you are right. Could you do it again for me to verify before I purchase? Play a few games. Then sim the season and check again. If there are NO issues I will purchase. When I first got the game, I started a Franchise, and controlled the first few games. I tried 1-playing a full game, 2-playing a partial game and then exiting and 'Managing' the rest, and 3-'Managing' a full game. I then simmed the full season. I never encountered any "breaking." After that, I started another Franchise and I've played through a few games and still no issues. My biggest complaint is the rather lacking minor leagues. Only a small roster of AAA players with a couple "real" (fake name) prospects per team. I love MVP 05's in-depth full organizational control. The portraits can be annoying too but that's to be expected. The issue with some players not having real names is absolutely inevitable: you can't put a player in an MLB game who has not played an MLB game or is not a member of the MLBPA. But, they're all physically accurate and you can change their names to the proper thing. The "edit player" is tenfold more detailed than with MVP so if you want to take the time, you could definitely build an extremely accurate roster including all your teams prospects including their habits, tendencies. accessories, performance in split situations, etc., etc. The graphics, Franchise interface, gameplay, animation, signature styles, etc., has all been great. The pitching is great in this game - you have to hit a catcher's target, position in consideration of the pitch's break, consider player's performance in certain counts and with certain pitches, etc. You even have detailed scouting reports for players to aid in what pitch to throw and when (as well as knowing what the opposing pitcher tends to throw in what count, and so on.) If you throw easy strikes over the plate, the computer is going to crush homers off you left and right but I like that - that should be the case with mistake pitches and meatballs. Fielding is hugely improved from last year. It's still quite difficult at first to field balls from the infield but you'll pick up on it soon enough and I now like the fielding a lot. I've refused to play any baseball game since MVP 05 but this game is absolutely the next one for me to play and I'm going to go out and buy it as soon as I lose my borrowed copy. 99% of the complaints I've heard about this game seem loony to me thusfar. OsageCowboy
Lineup Bugs, FA signings, and Player Progression It is official... *Note* this was tested on GM Mode. I simulated a season and none of these problems have been fixed. Lineups - In the season simmed Pujols played only 124 games due to injury. The next season I started simming, and in 2008 he did not play a single game and remained in AAA. This year you cannot even change CPU lineups. Needless to say this sucks. The best player in the game is not even playing because of this stupid glitch. FIX IT 2K!!!!!!!! FA signings - Once I got to the FA signings players like Scott Kazmir, Justin Morneau(06 MVP), Scott Linebrink, Mark Teahen (pretty much the Royals' future), Francisco Cordero, Garrett Atkins, Mike Cameron, and some other stars whose names I forgot to write down were available. First off TB would never part w/ Kazmir. He is there ace, and Morneau!? How would the Twins replace his production. This is BS. FIX IT 2K!!!!!!!!!! Player Progression - I'm the Phils... Ryan Howard started the 07 season rated a 94. At the start of the next season he is a 91. Here's his line .302 avg, 43 HR, and 132 RBI, and he went down a whole 3 points overall! Utley was a 90 and he went down to an 89. He hit .327 w/ 35 HR and 101 RBI. How does he go down a point?!?! He should be a 99! Cole Hamels went up only 2 points from 78 to 80 after posting a record of 17-6, a 4.30 ERA, 143 K's in 188 IP's. Needless to say the game modes are greatly flawed, and suck donkey balls! If you like to play on-line more than you do a Franchise then this game is for you, but I don't think that anyone really wants to put up with this stupid franchise or GM mode. It is such a headache to know Pujols might not ever even play in another game in your franchise because of a stupid glitch which keeps him in the minors. FRUSTRATING! caribou
Well I've played in Franchise mode, not GM mode yet. That apparently is GM mode. But no, I didn't have issues with players being left off rosters or ridiculous lineups or anything like that. Any player that was injured or suspended made his way back to his spot when available. I don't understand the FA complaint. How is the game supposed to decide which players the actual real life organization would plan to franchise? Great players are FA all the time. Yes, it'd be a much better game if it could incorporate arbitration and organization's control years for the young franchise players but once a player hits his FA year, there's nothing stopping it. He's surprised Linebrink and Cameron were made free agents????? It's not like any of it's competitors have a better free agent system that uses arbitration years. I didn't pay attention to all player progression yet but I did notice that two of my rookie prospects did greatly improve in that first season. brutushayesosu
that pujols thing sounds terrible. If it is a bug can something like that be fixed with a patch. That is if they release bug fix patches for 360. I agree with the free agent thing too. Its a videogame. Its fantasy. Deal wit it.
OsageCowboy
No, it was my understanding that they would not sign with anyone. Is that the case, or are they just available but they'll eventually sign with someone?
caribou
No, it was my understanding that they would not sign with anyone. Is that the case, or are they just available but they'll eventually sign with someone? As I read that post, he was just surprised they were in the free agent pool. I didn't have any problems signing free agents nor did I see anybody get stuck as a free agent. There are some players that are free agents that wouldn't/shouldn't be (because they're under their teams control and don't have the service time to be a free agent) but without implementing a complicated arbitration process, there's nothign that can be done about this. Granted I don't have enough offseasons to judge thoroughly but I liked their free agent system more so than MVP.
