He gives up just 1 run on 7 hits with 5 K's. Lowe goes to 9-2 with a 2.21 era. Randy Johnson only makes it 5 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits. Furcal has a huge game hitting 2 home runs and getting 3 runs and 3 rbi's. Olmedo Saenz gets the start at 1st to give Loney a rest. He goes 3 for 5 with his 4th homer of the season and gets 2 rbi's. Jason Schmidt pitches a complete game, giving up just 1 run on 6 hits with 8 K's. Luis Gonzalez and Jeff Kent both hit their 15th homers of the season tonight. Garciaparra, Martin and Loney all go 0 for 4 tonight. LA has now won 5 in a row. Russell Martin hits a big 2 run homer in the 2nd inning. It was his 14th homer of the year, but he only has 31 rbi's now. D-backs had a big rally in the bottom of the 8th scoring their 3 runs off of Penny and Beimel, but it wasn't enough. Saito finishes the game in the 9th to earn his 23rd save and the Dodgers 6th win in a row. LA sends Randy Wolf out to try for the 4 game sweep tomorrow. Edgar Gonzalez goes 7 innings giving up just 1 run on 5 hits. Randy Wolf has a decent game, but earns his 3rd loss of the year. Dodgers only get 5 hits all night and their only run scored was from a rbi ground out by Juan Pierre. LA now heads home for a 3 game weekend series against the San Diego Padres. Los Angeles vs. Arizona Series MVP = Dodgers Starting Pitchers (32 1/3 IP, 28 hits, 7 runs, 20 K's, 2 complete games) Schedule for June........ Standings....... In the bottom of the 8th it was a 2-1 game, and LA gets 2 insurance runs from back to back homers by Martin and Garciaparra. Brett Tomko pitches well, 7 innings, 1 run on 6 hits and 7 K's. Chris Young goes 6 innings for the Padres giving up 2 runs on 7 hits. Saito earns his 24th save of the season. Game #2 tomorrow marks the half way point of the season ! Dodgers go to the 9th up 4-1 and Saito who's always automatic struggled. Brian Giles leads off with a single then Adrian Gonzalez hits a 2 run homer to make it 4-3. With 2 outs Josh Bard hits a double. With the tying run in scoring position Saito strikes out Russell Branyan to earn his 25th save. James Loney had a big game going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 rbi's. Derek Lowe pitched great once again, 7 innings, 1 run on 5 hits and 6 K's. Dodgers are an unbelievable 61-20 at the halfway mark. Can they pass the 2001 Seattle Mariners 116 wins for the most ever ? Adrian Gonzalez blasts a 2 run homer off Saito in the 9th to make it 4-3. RAFAEL FURCAL - Fantastic season, where did all the power come from, 21 homers ?? JUAN PIERRE - Struggled all year with his batting average, but running wild on the bags, 44 stolen bases and only caught 3 times !! NOMAR GARCIAPARRA - Heart of the team. Could be a triple crown winner this year. JEFF KENT - Hitting like a mad man. Could he stay up around .400 the rest of the season ? LUIS GONZALEZ - Started off the season slow, but now an RBI Machine. Second on the team behind Nomar and on pace for 106. RUSSELL MARTIN - Having a very good season, but not enough run production. Only 32 rbi's, needs more in the second half. JAMES LONEY - Just recently made the starting line-up, but here to stay. Expecting big things in the second half. ANDRE ETHIER - Having a very solid sophomore year. BENCH PLAYERS........ Fantastic job from all the bench players. Betemit and Kemp got a lot of starts and will continue to in the second half. DEREK LOWE - Great season, tied for 1st in WINS, 2nd in ERA and 5th for K's in the National League. JASON SCHMIDT - Very solid year. 4 complete games and 2 shut-outs !! BRAD PENNY - Started off slow this season, but pitching well now. Too many HR's given up. RANDY WOLF - Given up too many hits and only starter without a complete game, but he keeps winning. The game was close in the 6th 3-1, but the Dodgers came up with 7 big runs. Schmidt pitches the complete game for his 10th win of the season. Russell Martin has a big night going 3 for 4 with 4 rbis and his 16th homer of the year. LA welcomes the Braves in next for a 4 game series. Braves bats come alive in the 6th scoring 6 runs. Brad Penny struggled as Atlanta hit 3 home runs off him. He gives up 7 runs on 11 hits in just 5 1/3 innings. The Dodgers gave their starters a rest tonight by starting 5 bench players. Randy Wolf had a rough outing giving up 6 runs on 9 hits through 6 2/3 innings pitched. Chipper Jones came up big with 3 rbis tonight. LA will try to get back on track and avoid a 3 game losing streak with Brett Tomko tomorrow. Brett Tomko pitched great, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits through 7 innings. Edgar Renteria homered to lead off the game, but Atlanta did little after that. Wilson Betemit comes up with the biggest hit of the day, when he drove in Gonzalez and Kemp on a double in the second inning to put the Dodgers up 2-1. Andre Ethier had a nice game, going 3 for 3 with 3 singles to up his batting average to .300, but he also got caught stealing twice today. Dodgers will try to split the 4 game series tomorrow sending Derek Lowe to the mound. Wilson Betemit slaps a 2-run double into left field in the second inning to put LA up 2-1. John Smoltz pitched very well today and Derek Lowe got pretty roughed up. The Braves got off to a quick start scoring 4 in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd. Dodgers were down 8-2 in the 8th and had a small rally but it wasn't enough. Ryan Langerhans went 3 for 4 today with a 2 run homer for the Braves. Dodgers welcome the Marlins in for a 3 game set to close out the first half of the season and take us to the All-Star game ! Andruw Jones hits his 3rd home run of the series in the 8th inning tonight for the Braves. Atlanta vs. Los Angeles Series MVP = Brett Tomko (7 IP, 5 hits, 1 run, 5 K's) Pitched great to earn LA's only win of the series. Schedule for July........ Standings........ Id bump up the difficulty level a notch but thats just my opinion I'm playing on pro level with my own sliders. I adjust the sliders a little bit against me now and then. It was hard for me at first, now it is easier, but it still is a challenge at times. The Atlanta Braves just came into Dodger stadium and took 3 out of 4 from me. I'm going to play the season out like this, its going to be my first full season. I will continue to slowly adjust the sliders against me, but i dont want a drastic change, like going to all-star and start losing all the time. My 2008 Dodger season will be played on all-star. Even if i do really good, it doesn't mean i will win the world series. I hope people will still keep track of the season, even though i win a lot....at least if you follow, be assured this season will be finished !! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LA was down 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th and then came up with 3 big runs. Jason Schmidt had a rough day, giving up 4 runs on 12 hits in just 6 1/3 innings. Russell Martin and James Loney both have big games tonight with 3 rbi's each. LA's defense struggled making 3 errors. A nice rally in the 8th and Saito in the 9th help the Dodgers win a tough one tonight. Florida has runners at 2nd and 3rd with only one out here in the 9th. The Marlins were up 1-0 in the 7th and Josh Johnson was pitching great. Ethier comes up with a big 2 out single in the 7th to score Gonzalez who reached on a error to tie it 1-1. Then in the 8th Dodgers score 3 off of Travis Bowyer. Russell Martin gets 3 hits tonight, a single, double and triple with 2 rbi's. Brad Penny pitched well, but left the game down 1-0 after 7 innings and gets the no decision. Saito saves the game once again, his 28th of the year. Randy Wolf pitches the complete game, giving up 1 run on 9 hits with 6 K's. Everyone in the starting line-up had at least one hit, and everyone had rbi's except Pierre and Wolf. Dodgers should have many starters in the all-star game, then they head to San Francisco for a 3 game weekend series. Nomar Garciaparra hits a line drive off of Anibal Sanchez's face that is caught by Hanley Ramirez for the out.
