Having a hard time hitting the ball

I started playing the 07 mod yesterday, and must say it's the "bomb" How

ever, I'm having the hardest time making contact with the ball. I play on

all-star level using KG's sliders. Off speed pitches like changups, and sliders give me the most problems. Any suggestions on how to hit the slow

stuff? Even when I do make contact, it's hit right at somebody. The scores

have been low scoring (2-0, 3-1 etc..) I only managed 1 hit in a game .

I want the scores to vary from close games to blowouts. It doesnt't seem to be happening for me though. Thx for the replies.

be patients and don't force your swing. Go with the pitch -- don't try to pull outside changeups or sliders, just go with them. Or you could try fouling them off and wait for that fastball.

if you can hit the fastball good, just sit on it, and try your best to hit the changeups and breaking balls, and just hit em where they are thrown.

agreed 100%, the worst thing you can do is pull outside piches, just go with them to wherever they are thrown, my guess is that you´re being over anxious with em.

I for one try to sit on off speed pitches, because they are thrown more often than fastballs (that´s a fact), and if you are successful getting regular contact on them you´ll find yourself scoring a lot runs in a heartbeat... I play on MVP and I average like 5 or 6 runs per game, I get dominated once in a while (Roy Halladay :assault: ) but I have enjoyed my share of success using that technic.

I'm not familiar with KG's sliders since I use my own custom set for MVP, but some game adjustment recommendations that may help are turning on the strikezone and hot/cold zones. This makes pitching way too easy, but it will help you learn the game's strike zone. The hot/cold zones are useful because I find that the cpu usually throws at the cold spots. I used to just sit cold and would hit .350+ with most guys. You'll get very low power numbers but a ton of rallies. As far as the sliders, you can play with the pitch speed, user contact, and user foul ball frequency. The latter should be at +50 on any setting in my opinion, but let's you nip those close 0-2 pitches. The other 2 are more obvious. I also find that runner speed is slow on the default and that fielder speed and arm speed are way too high default. You can try playing with these if you feel every ball you hit gets tracked down. Finally, pump up the cpu catch difficulty if the pitcher keeps snagging everything near him or your homers keep getting pulled back.

Again, I don't know what KG's sliders look like, but putting faith in other people's sliders can defeat the purpose. They're there for you to customize the game to meet your needs and wants from it.

O one last slider thing, you can just make the cpu really accurate with a low ball rate and swing all the time, although I would hate playing like that.
