I started a dynasty with the Mets in MVP 07, and I started on PRO, I would go an entire game with giving up only 2-3 hits and maybe a run, but I couldnt hit at all, Yeah, i know, I probably suck, Just wondering what sliders you guys use to make it more like "real baseball"

All-Star, adjust the sliders accordingly, which vary wildly. The thing I like the best, it to trun off all the pitching cheats. No fading hot/cold zones, no ball cursor, no strike zone outline. It really makes you think about pitching, and how you want to approach a batter. Also, youbetter learn that if you get in low and over the plate with Nick markekis (sp?), he's gonna destroy your fastball.

Oh yeah, don't ever try to blow a fastball over the outside of the plate to Pudge Rodriguez, unless you want him to get on base.

MVP :D But now I'm more on MLB 2K7, where I am on All-Star...or whatever the 3rd level is called.

Not to highjack the thread, but is MLB2K7 good? Do you like it more or less than MVP05?

I like it a whole lot, probably more then MVP 05 (sorry for the sacreligious words). The only reason is that it's a new game engine, and because the graphics, I mean, jeez, the graphics, are amazing (though I'm new to 360). The rosters are a lot more realistic, and the simulation is a lot better in MVP 05/07.

You turn off hot and cold zones and it makes you think about how you want to approach a batter? Unless you have Insider's Edge jacked into your brain, knowing a hitter's tendencies is all about knowing how to approach a batter.

Exactly. A number of people on here have stated that it's more realistic to have hot/cold zones off. That's ridiculous. What exactly do you think pitchers do on their off days leading up to their starts? They study & memorize hitters tendencies. Unless you have absolutely no life no way could someone playing a video game memorize opponents hitting tendencies so having the hot/cold zones on or on fade is the most realistic. Now if you just want to make the game harder from a pitching perspective turning the hot/cold zones off will do that, but it's not the most realistic setting IMO.

You make a point. but the hotcold zones are too drastic in MVP compared to real life. If anything, pitchers will know a hitters HOT zone, and will try to avoid it. but to say they go out and throw every pitch to a certain area of the zone, because it's the hitters "COLD" spot, isn't exactly realistic either.

IMO, hot/cold zones in MVP would be better off if they only showed 1 or 2 Hot spots squares, and only for some hitters (like bonds, Cabrera, Ramiriez, etc.)

How it works now, I think it looks and feels more realistic just to turn them off, not to mention, it makes it a little more challenging.

You can still look at a pitchers "Hot/Cold" Zones even when you have that feature turned off by using your 8 button on a PC Gamepad (I don't know the keyboard command). This is the button that gets you to the area where you can see the stats of each hitter. By doing this you get the best of both worlds. You will not have an overlay of the "Hot/Cold" Zones over the plate, but you will be able to review the "Hot/Cold" Zones of each batter by looking at there stats screen when they come up to the plate. I am not sure, but I think the overlay "Hot/Cold" zones over the plate change as the season advances while the stats section "Hot/Cold" zones do not change as the season advances.

I am currently playing a season with the Cincinnati Reds on All-Star settings. Pro settings are way to easy, but All-Star settings kind of mess up the realistic feel of the game to me. It seems as if the All-Star settings main goal is to make every game close. I don't necessarily want every game to be close. I want every game to be realistic. It seems as if there is a Difficulty level missing between Pro and All-Star somewhere, and I can't seem to find this missing zone by adjusting the sliders in the game. I have pitch speed set to -15, User batting Contact and Power set to 50 each, and CPU batting Contact and Power set to -50 each. The CPU still hits the ball everywhere, and I seem to hit the ball to everywhere a fielder is standing. I just can't win any games either. I could be up by 6 to 8 runs, and I am still going to lose that game nearly every time.

As far as pitching goes, I simply cannot find the setting that makes the CPU batters swing at balls. If my pitch isn't over the plate in the strike zone somewhere, they simply are not going to swing at it. Doesn't matter who the batter is, they all have absolutely perfect eyes to know if it is a strike or not. This really really really takes away from the realism of the game for me. I swing at many pitches that are barely out of the strike zone, where the CPU will not swing at any out of the strike zone no matter how close. This puts you at a major disadvantage that really can throw the game out of of the realm of realism.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by anyone who has figured out settings to fix these quirks. Thanks.

try a datafile alter, increase value 3 of the <cpubatter> line.

I play on all star, you can actually walk and strikeout batters consistently. CPU pitchers seem to hit the corners a lot more too forcing me to foul them off while I wait for a pitch right over the plate.
