bdugan
I'm using kgbaseball's Roster Overhaul Beta 2.0 with MVP07 for my dynasty and I'm noticing some strange things happening with 1B around the league being benched. In late April when someone got hurt and the DBacks had to adjust their roster, they benched Conor Jackson (.385 with 6 HR) for Tony Clark. I tried trading Tony Clark to another team but then they slotted some rookie 3B/IF at 1B instead of Jackson. Now its early May and I start a Mets series to find Delgado (.400 8 HR) on the bench in favor of Julio Franco (.180). I traded Franco, then they slot Jose Valentin in. What gives? Any way to fix this? Anyone else having this problem?
TwentySeven
If you have .net framework 2.0, you can run the following program: http://mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=3201.html. Then you just edit the lineups and change back to your team. Hope that helps!
bdugan
Yup... thanks, I was using MVP Editor to do that and then I realized something... I think I figured it out: Delgado and Jackson are both listed as 1B and then DH as secondary, so for whatever reason the CPU is slotting them as DH in the w/DH lineup and benched with an NL lineup. I used MVPEditor to delete their secondary position, and now they're back in the lineup.
superciuc
In this game the CPU is crazy. In a game against the Athletics they put Kendall on the bench and Piazza as catcher
RaptorQuiz
That's nothing. Thanks to the retarded CPU, Albert Pujols was benched from day 1 of my newest dynasty in favor of Eli Marrero (WHAT?!) at 1st base. Are you kidding me? And for some reason, Pujols has DH as his 2nd position in the 07 mod's KG roster. Pujols has never DH'd in his career. His other most often position was LF. So (A) why is his 2nd pos DH, and ( why do the players w/ DH as their second pos keep going to the DH, even on NL teams, which effectively benches some of the best players in baseball. I see the fix where you can go in and manually fix it every time it happens - but do the roster or datafile gurus out there have any ideas on how to fix this PERIOD? Thanks! LetsGoFish2015
Is there anything that can be done to make DH possible as a 1st position in the game? I've tried it in MVPedit, but it doesn't change in game..
TheMadcap
Roster editors need to remove the DH position from players that aren't DH's. That should clear it up right? Is this a problem with AL teams too or just NL?
SwinginSoriano
The CPU is stupid but I had never had problems with Delgado and Pujols on the bench.
scotty2hotty
Simply edit YOUR OWN Rosters! How hard is that?
bdugan
This thread definitely isn't a knock on the rosters, just a way to solve a problem/improve them. Chillax. It's only a NL problem, but if somebody like Giambi got traded to a NL team it would become a problem. Noooow I gotta figure out a way to keep the Mets from putting David Wright in the leadoff spot. kgbaseball
Thanks for the heads up. In the next version, I'll make sure that only AL players have secondary DH positions.
TheMadcap
Thanks for the heads up. In the next version, I'll make sure that only AL players have secondary DH positions. Is it even necessary for AL players to have it listed as their second pos? If the teams starting DH is out wouldn't the cpu fill in the DH spot with the next best hitter off the bench? (expecting alot from the cpu managers, I know)
Timp
In my experiences, turning off CPU Initiated Trades makes the computer not mess with their rosters like this.
TheMadcap
In my experiences, turning off CPU Initiated Trades makes the computer not mess with their rosters like this. But then they aren't trading, right?

(expecting alot from the cpu managers, I know) It makes sense for a lot of guys (Giambi, Ortiz) because they split time between their primary position and DH. Timp
But then they aren't trading, right? Yes, unfortunately.
bdugan
Anytime a starter gets injured or suspended the CPU will likely reshuffle the lineup (slugger to leadoff spot, leadoff hitter to two-spot, etc). I don't think there's any way around that.
Cash #25
In my experiences, turning off CPU Initiated Trades makes the computer not mess with their rosters like this. I do have CPU Inititated Trades turned off but I've also found Pujols and Delgado sitting on the bench. Of course, I edited to correct it, but I'm sure this will just happen again. Thanks to BDugan for bringing this up, BTW. I play AL and would probably have never noticed.
LetsGoFish2015
I agree with these lineup switch problems. What I meant before was that if there is a way to modify something ingame to make DH a primary position, as it is one for the position rankings. Also, it often puts obvious DH's into lineups on defense, which is totally unrealisitic.
conception
I despise when games have "DH" as a position because it requires no defensive skill, ability, or familiarity and just messes up things.
atlbraves
In this game the CPU is crazy. In a game against the Athletics they put Kendall on the bench and Piazza as catcher Well, that's not exactly crazy. Pujols benched IS.
atlbraves
Whatever you do, kgbaseball, DON'T make anybody's second position DH NO MATTER WHAT. If they sign in free agency with an NL team, than...
kgbaseball
Well, if I made Ortiz a 1b/1b, the Sox would only have him play 1st, and how accurate is that? I'll take a look at other players with DH as their 2nd position and see if I can change some of them.
atlbraves
OK, maybe not Ortiz.
RaptorQuiz
I have started several (4, actually) dynasties in the past week. In EVERY SINGLE ONE, the Red Sox end up putting Ortiz at 1st, and Pujols is benched in favor of Eli Marrero. This is in all 4 dynasties that I allowed the CPU to control STL. I don't ever remember having this "crazy lineup" problem this severely until the '07 mod. I wonder what changed that could do this, or if it's a coincidence.
