fjccommish
I like to play as one player, take his at bats, then go back into manage only mode to play the rest of the game. So I switch between manage and playing on the field (for my at bats.) Manage mode makes pitchers a little too good, but there is one huge problem. When I finish my at bat and switch to manage mode, the next hitter hits too well. Example... I play the Cubs and hit just before Barrett. I take my at bat, then switch to manage mode. Barret will almost always get a hit. He hit .650 with 70 HRs in an example season. The first hitter after returning to manage mode will almost always get a hit. Is there a way to fix it? Try it yourself. PLay for one hitter, return to manage mode. The next hitter will almost always get a hit. I've tried simming through the next hitter, but he still almost always gets a hit. - PLay one batter - Return to sim the next few hitters - The hitter following the batter played in full mode will hit over .600 for the season. carter
Interesting find... I'll have to give this a try.
maddux31
That does sound very odd?? Wonder why this occurs? I will also give it a try and see what happens.
Sean O
I can definitely vouch for this. It has ruined my attempts to have a pitching-only dynasty, since the constant switching to manager mode means we average 8-12 runs a game. It's really unfortunate. fjccommish
It ruins hitting as a single player, and to some extent doing pitching only. In manage mode, the user controlled team in general hits the cover off the ball and pitches too well. But if I pitch as one pitcher and sim the other games, at least it's somewhat enjoyable. But when returning to manage mode from full play mode, that next hitter is a monster. So really this is two issues: 1, the worst, the next hitter after returning to manage mode will hit over .600 (last year I played a number of seasons this way, playing while listening to the Cubs and White Sox play their games. Michael Barrett hit over .600 in each season because he was the guy in the lineup after me.) 2: In general both pitching and hitting are too good for user controlled team in manage mode. Pick any team, play them in manage mode a full season. You'll likely lead the league in runs scored and ERA, and have most players hitting over .300 and most pitchers with sub 3.5 ERA's. 2 isn't so bad, but 1 is a killer. MVP 04 had the same issues. redsox
Maybe you could try the following. Instead of swapping between play mode and manager mode, you can just relinquish your control to the CPU. After your at-bat is over, you can go to the game menu and give the computer full control of both teams. This process may be slow as you would pretty much be watching the CPU playing both teams. But this doesn't tend to provide any monster advantages to the next batter.

" I've done that, but it takes too long. I was hoping to find a solution so I can quick manage around my at bats or around my pitching. And even then the user team, my team under PC control, scores more than usual # of runs.
