Wow!

Let's go cubbies, you can win the division JR!

Lou's starting to smell it now, H! Seattle and Oakland going at it, New York and Toronto still in it, Philadelphia, the Mets and Houston still have a shot. The Angels are are long shot, but are mathematically still in it.

9 games left.

2 teams in (LAD, Minnesota), and 9 teams fighting for the other spots.

It's been a fun season. :)

..... It's been a fun season. :)

You know the great thing about it is that its not a fun season just for you. It has been one hell of a fun and entertaining season for everyone who has been following this.

I hope so, V. I've changed nothing in the way I play a season each year, I just decided to share it.

It's really impossible to know if many people do follow, but I certainly hope the ones that have been following have enjoyed it so far.

Really looking for U to clinch the division JR ! What's your schedule for the last 9 games ? Have you any idea of your magic number anyway ? Keep it going Man don't let your fans down (yeah I really said "fans" !) :cheer:

lol, thanks, pierre. :)

Here's the upcoming schedule with the team matchups:

Sept 21-23 vs Pittsburgh (9-3)

Sept 25-27 @ Florida (1-2)

Sept 28-30 @ Cincinnati (11-4)

Not necessarily a tough schedule, but 6 of those last 9 games are on the road, and Florida totally suprised me way back in May.

Being up only 1 1/2 games, I can feel myself tense up with each pitch, and each at bat. Literally. ;) I've played every single game, made every strategy move, personnel changes, roster and pitching changes, and so on.

I came back from 9 games down at the All-Star Break, and it took 2 months just to break even with Houston. When I click the game on, it's a go. No looking back.

I just don't want to lose it now. :)

Thanks, jai13. I could have used a good analyst during the season. Voting and sports writers are also welcome. :)

Lou might need a therapist here in the next week, depending how the Cubbies play.

Seriously though, thanks for the headsup. :)

They intentionally walked the bases loaded? With no outs?!?!? What were they trying to do, get a triple play?!

Yep, strange. I guess the CPU figured with a runner on 3rd and nobody out, a force at home was the best bet to save the game.

lol, but who knows. I was so pissed when I lost the 5 run lead. One of those games where you can't stop the CPU no matter what you do. Soriano was 0-4 when he hit the triple with Murton on first.

It's about time he did something. :)

my god talk about being clutch first hit of the game gets an RBI and ten scores the winner

Yeah, Soriano has been gawd awful for the last month. Just 2-20 in his last 4 games, and probably just as bad since the beginning of September. His average has declined from around .265 to barely hitting .240.

Talk about timing.

Great job on that 3 game lead. Looks like the playoff time is looming in the air in Chicago. Way to rally from that yearly year deficit Jay. Great job.

BTW, I really like this idea JR (the one with Soriano's name). Its very nicely implemented. Looks like you have a never ending bucket of resources.

Thanks, V. It's taken every bit of the schedule since the All-Star Break to pull it off and get the lead in the Central. The Astros have cooled off in September, finally.

With 7 games to go, it's not totally over. I've lost 4 or 5 straight before, so I'm not taking anything for granted until I see that "x" beside Chicago in the standings.

With that said, I go up against Pittsburgh tonight (for the series sweep), and I have 2 at Florida and then 3 more against the Reds. So, in all, it's looking more positive than it is negative.

The Mets and the Dodgers are two of the toughest teams I've played all year, and it's possible they will meet in the post season. It should be an exciting playoffs.

You had better win the World Series because I think there is a link between your dynasty, and the Cubs real season. No pressure though.

I've got little voodoo Chicago Cubs dolls on my PC desk, trust me, it's not fate. :)

Seriously though, not being a real Cubs fan, I jumped on when Piniella arrived in Chicago, I had a feeling it was going to be special this year, hence the Cubs dynasty.

It's been a blast both dynasty and real life though, and albeit a weak division, it's hard not to like what they're doing.

The Mets are red hot. They've won 7 straight and are now only 2 games behind Philadelphia. They could actually take the East.

But to your question, Houston is actually 3 games behind New York in the Wild Card.

With as good as the Astros have been all year, they may not even make the post season.

Very surprised about that WC leader. Looks like this is all the more reason for you to win the division, eh JR? Its truly going to be a very exciting finish to a wonderful season.

EDIT: Just saw your updated standings on the previous page. Didn't realize that the Mets and the Phillies were up in the win columns by that much. With the final week, its looking more and more like the wild card may not be up for grabs.

American League

West

*Seattle is 16-7 in September, playing the best they've played all season. Their last 6 games are at home, facing a depleted Cleveland (64-92) team, then hosting Texas (80-76) for the last series of the season

*Oakland had the division in the bag, but with a 14-16 August and an even worse September (8-14), they've pretty much played their way out of a division title. Only leading the Wild Card by 1 1/2 games, the Yankees are doing some serious knocking on their back door. They travel to Boston (77-79) for two games, then back home to face the Angels for 3 to end the season.

*The Angels never quite got over the hump, but are still very much alive. Only 2 1/2 games out of the Wild Card, a playoff spot is still possible, but not likely, with their remaining 6 games on the road. (@ Tex, @ Oak)

Central

* Behind Cy Young Candidates (1) Johan Santana (21-3, 2.35) and (3) Carlos Silva (18-7, 3.25), and a potent offense led by Mauer (.334, 23, 98), Morneau (.286, 22, 87), and Torii Hunter (.279, 22, 85), the Twins pushed their way past Detroit in early August and haven't looked back.

They'll face the Tigers at Comerica for 3, then finish off the regular season with 4 games at Fenway.

*Detroit led the Central for the first few months of the season, but were outlasted by Johan Santana and the Twins. Still mathematically possible to get in, the Tigers are 3 1/2 games out of the Wild Card, taking a shot at Minnesota for 3 games in Detroit, then traveling to Chicago (AL) to end the season.

East

*Boston came out strong in the East, with Toronto and New York always a step behind. A 9-18 August did them in, allowing the Bluejays and Yankees to fight for the top spot.

*Contrary to Boston's woes, the Yankees are right on track to make something happen in the last week of the season. New York posted a 17-11 July, and an 18-10 August, and now find themselves only 1 1/2 games out of the Wild Card race. With only Tampa Bay (68-88) and Baltimore (75-81) on the schedule as road games, New York is all but in.
