Jay, those are some sick effects you have added using Photoshop. I am really liking those lens flare effects. Great job as usual. Take care.

Thanks, V. It actually fell into place better than I thought. The lens flare that I used blended perfectly into the stadium lights, and I was able to really brighten them up.

I used a paint brush (black, size 20, opacity 20%/fill 20%) and was able to shadow around and under the lighted areas. I also darkened the crowd and field areas where the light would have been less illuminated.

Just a tip if you want to do some 'shadowing' on your pics. Simple, but effective.

excellent photoshopping JR26...

For the past couple days, your games have really matched how the Cubs have done...

for example...the cubs won big tonight as well vs. the Gnats...

Did they? I honestly haven't even checked yet, but that should be about 6 out of 7 for them.

I think I'm 5 for my last 7, and hopefully can go on a mad run before the All-Star Break.

Thanks for the comments, zneal. Much appreciated. :)

Hey JR, Nice work on the Pics and Dynasty. Have you made any updates to your sliders?

Cause I am having issues with my game. I truly don't understand how some people are doing good with the devilrays.

Anyways, at the moment I am using the MLB '07 DFile with hoops27 Allstar Sliders...

Thanks, ALB. The only adjustments I made to my sliders was probably about a month and a half ago. I slowed down the pitching speed a bit, but that was all.

As I've said before, tweaking the sliders is an ongoing process in order for the individual to get the game to play to their liking. I've owned the game since it came out, and still I see adjustments needed here and there.

Don't give up, you'll eventually get it. :)

One thing about the sliders...I find that I cannot get the power right in the game. Burrell will launch a ball to deep center on a high fastball, but it will stop right before the wall. I feel like I get all of it, but it dies at the wall. Some of those should be out, but if I raise it too much, Jamie Moyer will juice em out. If I raise the CPUs power too much, they start hitting moonshots, like they went back-to-back-to-back-to-back off of me with ther 6-7-8-9 hitters. I was having none of that.

I hear ya, x. I've been through all of that. It takes alot of tweaking and alot of games to get stable results, especially if you're playing each game.

But this is where I think part of the way I play balances out:

Sometimes my game plan is patience. Take a strike, get runners on base, then try to produce.

Sometimes my game plan is aggressive. Instead of taking so many pitches, focus in on anything they dare to put across the plate and hack away.

As far as my big hitters, trying to jack one out depends on the situation. Runner on second base, 1 out, down one run. I'm not trying to bust one over the fence, I'm looking to make contact to get the runner across the plate.

This isn't ground breaking strategies or anything like that, I'm just explaining why I think I have pretty realistic results. It's more than sliders, it the way you play the game as well.

Except for injuries and a few guys with low BA's, I'm pretty happy with my game results.

JR, I dig what you are saying most definately. One thing I agree with you about is how you play the game determines how you like it.

You like to slap singles and doubles, and that is one thing I like to do. Well one reason mainly because I cannot hit worth anything with my righties inside. If I could, Pat Burrell would probably have 25 HRs right now or something. But I can't. I don't know how to practice it, but I need to.

I love slapping doubles down the line and then scoring them with a single, or going back-to-back doubles. I only swing for power with Utley and Howard, and I always pop up with Howard. So much for that.

I agree 100% JR. Man, do you remeber back in the day when we just played the game the way it came out the factory. If you were good at a game, you were good. If you stunk, well... That's when ignorance was bliss I guess.

Now, we've become more sophisticated in our demands on gameplay.

Honestly, with it being so hard to score with my sliders, my hitting depends on the game situation. Almost always. I rarely get the chance to hack away unless I'm up a few runs, or it's early in the game and I know the pitcher will come across with a fastball more often than not.

Before I officially start a game, I'll go in for 1 inning and take pitches to see what he has, check his velocity, and see what all he throws. If I go in cold, I might as well waste an inning or two just trying to get a groove on the pitcher.

I guess you could call it scouting, but as much as a challenge that my sliders are (to me), I have to do it or I'm screwed right off the bat.

Pun intended. :rocklicker:

I sure do, M. It would eventually just get to the point to see if I could play half a season and go undefeated. The games were a challenge until you got used to every pitch almost being the same, or you found a glitch, which only took about a week to uncover.

Probably starting with the High Heat Series, and on to tweaking MVP, if I'm not pissed, it ain't worth playin'. :)

Half of the fun is going in cold and looking for that first pitch change-up that you expect it to be a fastball. You don't see the Cubs getting a chance to face the opposing pitcher for an inning before the game. They can watch tape, but not play the pitcher. Food for thought.

I said I go in for an inning and take pitches. What's the difference between that and 'watching the tape'? It's the only way I can think of to at least 'scout' the pitcher before actually playing the game.

I seriously doubt the Cubs or any other professional team in any sport goes into a game 'cold'.

But hey, with the Cub's history, I could be wrong. :)

I try to take a lot of pitches! (Notice the TRY part!) Sometimes I can do it, and then I wait for the inside pitch I can yank over the fence, and other times I just have to keep slapping at the ball hoping to flick it down the line the opposite way. So I guess I really don't scout much at the beginning of the game, for me it's really at the beginning of every at-bat.

If I went into a game cold, and scouted my actual at bats, it would be the fourth inning before I had an idea of what to expect, or I'd be chopping up air in the box.

Patience is a virtue, something I wish I had more of. :)

Wow, I usually catch on after one trip through the lineup, which is by the end of the 2nd or beginning of the third. But, if the guy is on, there is still nothing I can do!

One trip through the lineup can possibly equal 3 innings.

Seriously though, it doesn't take me that long to catch on, I was exaggerating a bit.

But as close as my games are, I don't have an inning to waste.

JR that template is MONEY. Love it.

Man, Church is having a good year for the Nats.

Cubs/Nats on WGN. Cubs 3 Nats 0 3rd inning

Thanks, M. Thanks for the headsup. I just finished my game vs Nats. DeRosa went 3-4 and homered TWICE! WTF? His average is up to a whopping .202!

Anyway, thanks again. Brew. WGN. Cubbies. :)

I don't know man. It looks like DeRosa's climbing the board for MVP.

yo joe i have a question, how do you trim the players and get them onto the templates like that, the only way i know is using the lasso tool on photoshop, but that takes a long time, do you have a shortcut?

when you have time come on over and check out my Royals dynasty, its going pretty good so far..check out the game 10 recap for a crazy ending

Mets -

I trim the players with the Lasso Tool, and then magnify the pic and erase. It's a tedious process in the beginning, but it gets easier.

My best suggestion to anyone is to play with every option you can find in Photoshop. From what I am learning, the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for the headsup on your dynasty, I'm on my way to check it out. :)
