I wanna see Scott Moore called up if A-Ram ever (hope he doesn't) goes down with injury again. Sounds like he has significant pop in your lineup. 470? Wow!

My player with pop is Eric Byrnes in my dynasty haha....

Good win...like I said a few days back...you're mirroring the real Cubs as of late with your impressive run!

It could possibly be due to the weak spot in the schedule, at least it is in my dynasty. My last 11 games have been against sub .500 teams, and so far I'm 8-3 in this run.

Instead of 'watching' the All-Star festivities, I think I'll be in the cages gearing up for Houston. :)

Hey JR. are the Pirates as easy to beat as we were saying? :p

Yeah, they're pretty weak in just about all areas of the game. Jason Bay is really the only threat at the plate, and I haven't faced a pitcher (yet) that was any where near dominating.

BUT, if you look at yesterday's boxscore, they came within 5 feet of tieing the game. After cruising with a 5-0 lead the whole game, they scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 1 on, and Soriano had his back against the wall in left field to make the final out. It was a rocket that probably peaked at 20' at it's highest point. I had to scramble to get back.

When the ball was hit, I just knew it was going out, but the park held it. But other than that one inning, they've been pretty much non-existant.

This is what you needed if your going to pull in on the stros

You're right, Pudge. In this 12 game stretch, I've taken 9 games, and gained 2 on the Stros. I'll be posting standings and All-Star stats through the week, but I can tell you that I'm tied for the NL Wild Card, and basically, after seeing how hot Houston has been, I've covered my goals to finish off the first half.

To put it into perspective, it's taken 12 games to gain 2. There is no messing around in the 2nd half if I want to wind up playing in October. Albeit these were mediocre challenges, I'm going to take some serious batting practice (scouting) during the break, and I have to come out hot against Houston this weekend.

Winning the Houston series will definately cap off a statement for the Cubbies.

I've been here before, I have a distinct feeling this might just go down to the wire.

Good job JR. I agree with Pudge77, you must punish the weaker teams.

M, off the top of your head, how'd you fare against the Bucs? They were pretty weak during the whole series, just wondered how you fared against them.

First Series was a sweep: http://www.dynastymanager.com/news.cgi?u=M...id=62896&t=news

Second series, I took won the series 2-1. Should have been a sweep, but Howry lost his focus in Game 2.

How did Big Z go CG with 0ER and there were no errors and the Bucos scored a run?

Either way, nice win. Way to beat up on my Bucs...lol

Good eye, Mav! Xavier Nady actually sacced that run in. My mistake.

I couldn't get the boxscore to upload, and I completely missed it when I posted.

Thanks for the headsup. :)

No problem, I just saw the box score and became confused quickly...lol

On a side note, do you happen to get Sports Illustrated?

In the latest magazine they had a "Where Are They Now?" feature, where they catch up with a bunch of former players/athletes.

Guess who happened to be one of the ones they caught up with? Joe Rudi...lol... Normally I would have skipped over him, but considering the circumstances, I had to read it. Apparently he's really into HAM radios, lol.

will there be Home Run Derby/All-Star Game coverage?

Carlos Zambrano (10-6, 2.70 ) and Mark Prior (9-5, 2.70) have been selected to start in the 3rd and 4th spot in the "rotation" in the All-Star game.

(Aramis) Ramirez was beaten out by (starter) David Wright and sub Morgan Ensberg at 3rd base.

Since I have representatives from the Cubbies to pitch, I will play the All-Star game instead of simming it.

I'll definately be posting an All-Star game presentation and results, but if there are enough people that want to see the HR Derby, I don't mind covering that too!

Let me know, guys. :)

What??? :)

He only really made one good play in his life..

..but he was the kind of player that did the little things. He was gritty, played hard, and he was cast into a mega Oakland A's team that was drowning in talent.

Thanks for the link, Mav.

To be honest, he was my fav player as a kid, but I've had a few since then.

My screen name could have very well been:

Lofton7

Strawberry39

Alomar12

Brett5

There is a TON of talent in the game today, and I'd have to say my fav right now is Soriano. :)

Geez..I just looked..

Jason Schmidt and Johann Santana will be starting in the All-Star Game.

13-2, 2.63 and 13-2, 3.02 respectively.

This is going to be nasty. I wouldn't expect alot of offense. ;)

*edit - I realize the offensive talent is the cream of the crop, but has there ever been a no-hitter in the AS Game?

This should be intersting. Good luck man. Just make sure the Cubbies represent Wrigleyville well.

To be honest, Pudge, I've had more fun this year than I think I've ever had playing a season. Even though I'm an A's fan, I can't deny that I grew up with the Cubbies on TV everyday, and for some reason it's hard to deny that I like them.

I don't think I've ever seen an organization with so much personality (maybe the Red Sox or Yankees), but Chicago is on the other end of that spectrum. They need to get the monkey off their back, maybe that's why I keep watching. The 2003 Playoffs were one of the best Post Seasons I think I have probably ever seen, and trust me, that's saying alot living through 4 Oakland A's Titles.

Even if it's through a video game, I'm probably having more fun trying to get the Cubs a ring than I've ever had playing as Oakland.

With that said, there's no doubt I'll continue this next year. How can't I? :)
