ha o thats unfortunate haha, what did Theriot do?

After 20 games at 2B, he went down with a Torn Shoulder Muscle sliding into second base.

He was hitting .320 with 10 RBI and no hr's, but did have 4 stolen bases at the time. He was brought up after DeRosa had been sent down for the first time.

He looked very promising. Despite the turmoil this season, I'm in decent shape. 6 1/2 back of Houston (they won again today), and tied for the Wild Card spot.

If Ramirez or Lee go down, this team is in serious trouble, even at this point in the season. If we stay healthy, and a couple of key players go down for Houston, we will come out on top in the Central.

But with that being said, I don't want to count on that, I need to win games.

WHAT??

Dammit, I can't keep up. Haven't seen the TV in a week. What would I do without you guys? :)

LOL. Man, I was sleeping on this one also. Phillie18 gave me the heads-up.

Man, the Cubbies are smelling blood. I can't recall the last time I've seen this much activity before the trade deadline in Chicago.

I'm actually a day behind (July 18th), and Izturis doesn't know it yet, but this will be his last game as a Cubbie.

In real life, have you noticed the fans at Wrigley?? They sense it already.

I'm enjoying every bit of it. :)

Very much so. You can even look at the body language of the players and tell that the "culture" of winning that Lou talked about is there. It's a really good time for us Cub fans right now. Altough, there is still a lot of ball left to play.

July 18 - San Francisco @ Chicago (Game 3)

*SF - 7, Chicago 0*

Matt Morris was unhittable. He was mixing up a 95MPH fastball with a hard sinker and a devastating curveball. Morris went the distance (127 pitches) with 10 K's and nailed down the shutout.

Kerry Wood was rocked for 7 runs (Grand Slam by Vizquel) in just 4 innings of work. Sean Marshall picked up the other 5 innings and didn't surrender a single run

Barry Bonds went 2-4, and Randy Winn hit a 2 run homerun (15th) to round out Giants scoring

Jason Kendall went 2-4 with his 5th double of the season

The Cubs hope to even the series tonight in Game 4

Thanks, M. I'm telling you, he threw that damn curveball on an 0-2 count and I couldn't find it. It started at my forehead, and ended at my ankles.

I felt abused. ;)

That stinks! Oh well, at least Barroids didn't go deep!

And JR - Where did you get the idea of mousepads for logos?

Goodness! I should've seen that those logos were mousepads a long time ago when you said they were from something different when you first used them!!! I'm using one myself in my avatar!!! :wall:

He hit one to the track in the deepest darkest corner of right field, but Floyd got under it.

I really didn't get the idea of using a mousepad really, I just saw the pics and liked the logos, so I just used them.

LOL, that's why (the other day) I was asking if anyone knew what they were from.

Good thing it wasn't a snake, Phils... :rocklicker:

Hey JR - Just curious, how are you going to arrange your infield now that Iz is gone?

3B - Ramirez

SS - Fontenot?

2B - DeRosa

Or are you going to stick Moore at SS? And who will you call up since they got a PTBNL?

You read my mind Phils, I've been working on that as we speak.

This is what has transpired:

Cesar Izturis to Pittsburgh for player to be named

Called Up

Ronny Cedeno

Matt Murton

Sent Down

Felix Pie

Ronny Cedeno (RHB) - To fill in at SS against LHP, DeRosa will play 2B

Scott Moore (LHB) will play 2nd base against RHP, DeRosa will play SS

Soriano will be moved to CF (SPD 93) permanately

Cliff Floyd stays in RF

Jacque Jones (LHB) will play LF against RHP

Matt Murton (RHB) will play LF against LHP

One more outing like July 18th, and Wood may end the season in Iowa

*Fontenot has done a nice job pinch hitting, but he's weak defensively. DeRosa is solid, and despite his low BA, his hits are timely. The odds tell me to keep him in the field opposed to Fontenot*
