Even though you are entering the game with a weakened line up compared to the previous game i think theres enough there to take game 2

Good Luck

Yeah, with alot of the guys needing rest, I really don't have much choice. I need to win games now, and I can't do it when some guy's fatigue level are in the low 60% range.

I realize the lineup is shaky, and with Soriano and Pagan sitting, I'm not going to dig down into AAA just to put some speed in the OF.

Yea. Its just unfortunate that the day you need to rest a lot of your key players is when you are facing the D'Backs ace and you NEED a victory.

It's happened that way a couple of time this year, and it's possible to pull it off with a good pitching staff.

But there's still a month of baseball left, so thinking in terms of 'the long run' prevails in situations like this.

It's possible to win games like this, but not probable. But still, I want to at least win this series and keep pace with Houston.

Yeah thats a good point. Its easy to forget about the long term and just consider the current series as a do or die.

I'm guilty of doing that from time to time. :)

Tough Loss JR. But, 10 left on base, ouch, that's not that great! Hopefully next game's better, and it's not that bad since you're still tied for first.

Yeah, I couldn't get them across when it counted. Houston lost, so no harm done. I'll get em tomorrow.

Tough loss JR. I see Monroe came in swinging the stick. Marquis isn't getting the job done, just like he was for me.

Hang in there man, and ride out this fatigue thing. Tell Lou to crack the whip. Them boys can't be tired, you're trying to reach the post-season.

Despite the loss, the Cubbies hung in there until the end. Way too many opportunites lost in this game, despite Murton's grandiose debut in the lead off spot. :)

But still, in order to play well in the upcoming games, I need some guys ready to play. I hated to do it, but it was the only option(s) I had at the moment. Even with this rag tag Cubbie team, I was in it till the end. :)

It's all good though, Houston lost, and I'm still in good shape. Those bastards better be ready to play when I get them on the calendar in the next couple of weeks. :)

Looks like there are some tight races that are sure to be interesting and great job on taking back the division Jay. Looks like you had some very timely hitting in that last game. Keep it up.

Thanks, V. It's been a long road, but I'm only 1 game up on Houston, and judging from how they've played all year, I'll have to focus on every game just to stay in this thing.

To complicate things, Philadelphia and the Mets are keeping pace with what's going on in the Central, so the Wild Card spot is nowhere near locked at this point.

Things are tight for the Cubbies, and with this last update, I noticed the Yankees have not only snuck into the AL Wild Card race, but they're only 3 1/2 games behind first place Toronto now!

Talk about late season heroics.

It should be interesting down to the wire. I'm not out of the woods and into the playoffs yet, and with the way it's going, It'll probably go straight down to the last week of the season.

And that's the best part of the game as it makes up for a very exciting/interesting finish. This is one hell of a comeback from you after being down as much as 8 games in the division. Great job as always.

Not to put you on the spot, V, but I was just curious if you planned on posting the rest of your dynasty. I realize you've been busy and have directed some of your attention to other things.

Just curious. :)

I will surely get my dynasty finished - its just way too interesting to stop now, but just haven't taken the time out to do the updates. I have played through about half the games in September as I wanted to make a general update (2 to be exact - one around the 15th and the other at the end of the season) for the month of September so that I can concentrate on presenting the playoffs (hopefully! ). I have created some new templates for the playoffs with what little knowledge I have acquired so far about c4ds and I am hoping to improve upon that. Thanks for being a loyal follower as I am of yours.

That's good to hear. I've actually started making playoff templates too, but I realize that I may not even get to use them. :rocklicker:

I plan on doing Series Updates in September (instead of daily updates) unless it gets extremely heated at the very end of the season. In that case, I'll present those games by the day.

It's good to hear you're 'working behind the scenes' to keep it going. I'll definately be looking forward to it. ;)

What a presentation!!! It's simply amazing!

I respect you a lot for this accurate and hard-working job, including because I am a huge Cubs fan from Hungary!

Don't stop it...

Thanks, Z, and welcome to the boards! Cub fans in Hungary?? I guess they're (we're) everywhere. :)

Glad you're enjoying it. Stick around, this one will be updated until the end. :)

Is this a one-season dynasty?

I really haven't decided yet, Joe. I've had so much fun with these Cubbies this year, I've considered it.

On the other hand, if I had my choice, I'd probably do a '77 dynasty with the Yankees.

Martin, Steinbrenner, and Jackson...

What a year. :)

JR, I can't stop saying this, but you got some amazing graphics. I can't wait till you get to the post season.

Thanks, Kaz. I do appreciate the compliments. My wife is beginning to think I like PS more than I do her.

It's taken some time, but I don't regret a single second. It's been a blast. :)

*Since I'll be posting the Milwauke games in a Series Format, I had a little time to throw this together to highlight a couple of players in the Minor League system.*

*Again, the next couple of weeks will be done in the Series Format style, to give me some time to work on some playoff boards. Hopefully I'll be in the mix of things to be able to use them.*

Looks like you are getting some awesome pitching performances from your starters. I just had a quick look and in your last 4 games, you starters have thrown 31.2 innings and have given up only 3 ER runs - that's really good.
