compmaniac
I just made a minor mod that makes all pitchers have pitches that are around 56 mph that resemble softball pitches. This was in response to the request here: http://eamods.com/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=10...14/start=0.html Also, the ball is bright neon-green-yellow, and bigger, to resemble a softball. The 8 bats have also been changed to popular composite bats. I'm still planning on: 1. Making a softball field 2. Modifying all the offense sliders to maximize offense (although it doesn't seem possible, because all the sliders are stored in .sav files, right? Not datafile?) 3. Almost no leadoffs or stealing. If you guys have any suggestions, please tell me.

sdoyle7798
Now if only you could make the pitchers throw underhanded. I know that won't be possible, but it would be cool. EDIT: Just read your post on EAMods, that submarine pitch motion idea isn't bad.
carter
Do you have any screenshots of these softball pitches?
Timp
Cool. This could be very interesting so I may try it out sometime.

ChicagoCubs720
No, you are wrong. You can edit ball control in the datafile but not all the damn sliders MVP offers oh sorry my bad  I think you could do that in High Heat Baseball, maybe that's why I got confused. 59FIFTY
With those Aluminium bats do you have a aluminium sound like ping?:p
compmaniac
No, but thanks for the idea. Where can I get that sound file from, and where do I replace it in the game directory? Also, I'm working on changing the bat structure .o file so it looks more like a softball bat, rather than a baseball bat.
philliesphan18
I'm likin this mod. It'll give gamers a good break from the norm of baseball. Good luck compmaniac.
Steve822
man I'm telling ya we need rock and jock softball challenge rosters, when Tommy Lasorda coached the Awayboys and pinch hit him self that was awsome, imagine playing as Dan Cortese or MC Hammer....priceless
Steve822
can you get the ping sound from the ps2 or xbox ncaa game? the composite bats sound pretty much like wood anyways, but the ping would be a sweet touch

Maybe from an MVP 06 NCAA trailer. But that's not the hard part. The hard part is that I don't know where to put it.
jp_hidalgo
There are things which will be really hard (perhaps impossible) to achieve. -to quit the mound -create an entire new league (that's a lot of work, stadiums, uniforms, team names, etc...) -pitching motion (I would like to see a fastpitch softball pitcher movement, but we won't see it) -NO leadoff, but still we can steal a base (I love fastpitch softball) -other distances (between bases, pitching rubber to plate, field, etc) By the way, the idea is awesome. Wheter I find a softball game, I will buy it.

Wheter I find a softball game, I will buy it. Well, I can't change the distances, but I think that it might be possible to delete the mound. And I can't "create an entire new league" unless people want to help. I'll also look into the no leadoff comment.
jp_hidalgo
yes, that's why I call it: My "perhaps impossible" wish list.

Sean O
You can quit the mound but it's impossible to have no leadoff Yeah, but you could change the sliders to have a major steal delay, and steal speed at virtually nil, so the running game is removed altogether. Instead of moving the bases and mound closer which are impossible, you'll just need to futz with pitch speed and everything to make it appear that the ball is coming up on you faster. Work with what you have.
compmaniac
I just uploaded a newer version that changes all the pitches' names to Ephus-1, Ephus-2, etc. It also changes the shape of the bat to resemble a softball bat. I'm not very good at OEdit, so if you don't think the bat looks very authentic, I'll work on it.
sureshot25
This is coming along nicely. One thing would be cool to see, is some pitchers to have a knuckle ball. One year when I couldn't get into a baseball league, I joined a softball league for fun (it was free too) and I remember about 3 pitchers in the league could throw knuckle balls. compmaniac
Well, currently, I'm pretty sure that if the pitcher has a knuckleball in real life, he has a knuckleball in the softball game. But I'll see if that's not the case.
sdoyle7798
With the mound, if you deletes it, will the pitcher appear to be in mid-air? What I am saying is will the game know the mound is not there and keep the pitcher suspended in mid air.
compmaniac
I'm not sure yet. But don't softball fields have mounds?
kgbaseball
Not slowpitch. It's also closer in slowpitch.
