joshua444
Did you modders make it really difficult to hit home run these days?..I've gone though about 20 spring training games to work out the proper tuning for me and i have 1 home run in those 20 games. I even put my power up to 50?..whats going on?. Anyone having the same problems?..its not that i'm new to mvp...i've been playing since 05 and i always hit my share of homeruns except for now...i don't get it...ahh help. joshua444
Oh crap this has been asked already but without a very good answer. Some responces said its cause the person isnt' skilled enough...thats not it...me and that other poster have been playing this game for quite a while now and now have noticed a change. I've been playing at the All-Star level since this game came out..and was able to get decent HR numbers through every season and my settings for power were usually set at 10 not much higher..now its at 50 and only 1 homerun in 20 games? duckdodger215
i've been experiencing the same thing. not that the dodgers have a ton of power... but it is noticeably harder.
rixmithco
It seems pretty similar to the 2005 base game to me. I'm playing on All Star and have lowered my power slider from 20 to 15 because I felt I was hitting too many. I check the wind direction at the start of the game and am a guess hitter, so I pre-load my left stick up and toward the wind direction when I think the pitcher will throw a pitch in the appropriate area. Seems to work pretty well.
itmike
They cant change the hardcore hitting information. TBH, Your just slumping. It happens, for instance I just went through the first month of my 2008 dynasty with the yankees and have a very powerful lineup, I only had 5 homeruns for the whole team. My lineup includes Miguel Cabrera no ratings under 92 for hitting, Cano no ratings under 90, Mark Texeira no ratings under 85 including 98 leftside power. I quadrupled that number in the first series of May. Once again Im leading the teams in HR's. It just a slump.
SESbb30
rixmithco, try and change your hitting style from guess hitter, to something else, like wait for a fastball or a change or whatever in the spot you want it, if you dont get it, just take it wherever, and youll still get homers with the power hitters. i think your just trying too hard. i went 50 games without hitting a homer, then i just said F it, i just tried to hit line drives into the gaps and i started hitting homers again. you just have to wait on the right pitch to really get a hold of it. abhall
For those of you not hitting many home runs I would advice you to pre-load a lot more often during at bats. I'm not a good hitter IMO because I'm overly aggressive and I swing at bad pitches; however, I don't recall ever going more than 3 or 4 games w/o hitting a homer. I usually hit about 2 a game on All-Star (everything turned off). I strike out more by swinging up, but get more HR's and extra base hits.
Hocking
My homeruns seem to be coming in groupings all at once playing MVP07 on All-Star settings, Power set to 50. I have noticed that my homeruns will come in spurts of 3 or even 4 during a single game(not by the same person, but 2 or more people), and then they will completely dry up for a couple of games. I have also noticed that I am actually hitting more homeruns while swinging towards opposite field. I don't always hit the homerun to opposite field, but I swing in that direction. joshua444
Thanks for the responces guys. I wrote this in the morning...came back from work and read all this. Maybe i am in a slump or just trying too hard. So pretty much after about game 10 after not hitting any homeruns all i've been doing was trying to hit uppercut shots and swinging for bad pitches never really working the count..cause i've never been in a slump like this....so maybe i have been pressuring it a bit. Maybe its cause i am playing like a spring training sorta set up thing..like playing mostly minor leaguers for most of the games and the regulars for about 4 to 5 innings. I mean i am playing with the blue jays which is one of the better power teams in the league...so the lack of homerums make me worry a bit. One more thing, whats this loading up with the pad stick then swinging..like pressing the control stick for a quick second before then pressing the hit button? Lemdaddy
I had the same problem. Preloading I think means to push the left analog stick up before the pitch gets to the plate. When I was playing before I didn't push up on the analog stick until the time I was swinging, hardly any home runs for me that way. Now I push up before the pitch is thrown and I'm hitting home runs. I'm in my 40's so maybe my reflexes have slowed some. One other thing I did was to go into the data file and change powerrandomness under the pro level to 50 instead of 30. Search for "0xb889e76 39<pro>" without the quotation marks. I believe it's number 22 in the list. I play the pro level. If you play a different level their all in that area of the datafile. One of the 2 things I just listed fixed the lack of home runs for me. I actually hitting just a few to many now. I keep tweaking my power slider down now to get the results i want. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps.
abhall
One more thing, whats this loading up with the pad stick then swinging..like pressing the control stick for a quick second before then pressing the hit button? I think this may be your problem. If you want to swing with an uppercut (which significantly increases the chances of you hitting a home run), you need to hold the left analog stick up when swinging at a pitch. You never let go of the left analog stick until after the swing is over. If the pitch is middle in or high and in you would press the left analog stick up and to the left. If it's middle out or high and outside you would press the left analog stick up and to the right when swinging (for a right handed batter). Hope this helps. compmaniac
So do you ALWAYS have to preload the pad stick for it to have any effect? You can't swing and hold the pad stick at the same time?
rixmithco
I'm pretty sure you don't have to preload - My impression is that the game designers expected you to try to move the left stick to adjust to the ball as it approached the plate. I'll try SESbb30's advice and see what the results are...
abhall
So do you ALWAYS have to preload the pad stick for it to have any effect? You can't swing and hold the pad stick at the same time? You don't always have to preload the stick but it's a lot easier to hit HR's that way IMO. Everyone thinks differently while at the plate, but my view is if you already have the stick preloaded it's one less movement you'll have to make when swinging the bat all the while trying to analzye the type of pitch and it's location. If the pitch happens to be a ball or a low strike all I do is let go of the stick and I can still make a regular swing. What happens if you don't preload, but then simultaneously swing and press the analog stick at the same time? Do you know for sure that you're getting the full affect of the uppercut swing? Preloading guarantees you that you will. It only makes sense to preload before the pitch is thrown if you plan on taking an uppercut swing. You can then adjust the swing left or right depending upon location.
TBJays
I play on All Star with my ratings at 0 and I have one person with over 100 homers on the season and 5 in my lineup over 50! Hitting homers is a snap. You just sit on a pitch, wait till you get it and pound it!!! High and tight fastballs are the best to rock outta the yard. If you want more detail pm me and I will tell you more
59FIFTY
I hit ALOT of homers i have 25 is about 9 games with david wright i own:P and 64 stolen bases in 10 games i bunt every at bat i go on base every at bat and i steal 2 bases every at bat with him:D
kgbaseball
Man, you refuse to lose, and you demolish the ball with every hitter you have, how can that be fun?!
59FIFTY
its fun too own:P Im just too good at this game, i even win every game with the marlins the MARLINS! wtf!
angryrat
you could always change the sliders or get a new datafile. that sounds horrifically boring. nobody is that good.
kgbaseball
He doesn't finish a game unless he will win, otherwise he starts over. Everyone has their own way of playing, I guess.
itmike
I guess hes not worried about the realism factor... 25 homers and 64 stolen bases in 10 games. Im hoping Wright doesnt have the 64 SB's too.
rixmithco
Dang, I can see there a lot of people much better at this than I am! My goal is to figure out how to get my sliders set so I get pretty realistic results. With 2005 I could never find the right balance. Pitching was too easy on All Star, but going to MVP was impossible for me. 2007 mods seems to be working out much better playing at All Star. I did try a few games without preloading and never hit a homerun. It was like playing using the keyboard before I got a gamepad. Kind of takes some of the fun out of it, so I'll be lowering my power slider a bit and guess hitting again...
joshua444
I did the preloading thing and i'm finally hitting homeruns...so that problem is fixed. Now the only problem, which is a pretty big one, is the pitching is too easy when it comes to giving up walks...i have pitching difficulty at -50 and its still too easy at all-star level. I know splittons walk fix is out there and that works great but all datafiles includes this tv views which i don't like at all. SqueegeeDs released a view a while back thats on the 7th page of Camera/Datafile download section thats very realistic...like it puts you in the batter's box and the pitching view gives you an idea of the distance from the mound to home plate. I just don't know why this isn't a popular view. So the problem is trying to keep this view while adding Splittons walk fix..that would solve all my problems and make this game so much more realistic and fun....ahhhhh.
